Yunara Abilities Revealed (League of Legend’s 171st Champion)

    New Champion Ability Breakdown: Yunara

Yunara is the newest champion to be hitting Summoners Rift. She will be released on July 16, 2025, and will be the second of many champions to be released in the 2025 calendar year. She is the first ADC champion that we have seen since early 2024, which was Smolder.

In this quick Mobalytics guide, we will go over the basics of Yunara and break down each of her abilities. At first glance, she is quite like Aphelios, where her abilities “change” depending on what skill she uses next. But there’s a little more to her kit than meets the eye. With that in mind, compared to some of the other champions Riot Games’ has released in recent times, she is much easier to understand and play.

    Yunara Ability Names:

    • Passive: Vow of the First Lands
    • Q: Cultivation of Spirit
    • W: Arc of Judgement/Arc of Ruin
    • E: Kanmei’s Steps/Untouchable Shadow
    • Ultimate: Transcend One’s Self

As you can see, there are 2 versions of her W and E. These are changed when she activates her Ultimate.

    Yunara Ability Breakdown

Yunara’s Passive is Vow of the First Lands

Yunara’s Critical Strikes deal an additional 10% magic damage.

    Yunara Passive

This Passive is really simple, which we love to see. I love to see simple abilities as it makes a champion easier to understand. This Passive can work really well with her kit, as it will naturally make her stronger as the game progresses.

Yunara’s Q is Cultivation of Spirit

Passive: Yunara’s attacks deal additional on-hit damage. Attacking grants stacks, up to a maximum of 8.

Active: Yunara gains bonus attack speed and deals additional attack speed. Her attacks spread to nearby enemies as well.

    Yunara Q

This Q ability is pretty cool. It reminds me a bit of Smolder’s ability where it becomes stronger as the game goes along and deals AoE damage. I think this is a good ability and will help her when trading with the enemy. I assume you’ll want to get stacks of and keep attacking the enemy to keep your stacks, and then active it when its time for an all-in.

Yunara’s W is Arc of Judgement/Arc of Ruin

Yunara launches a spinning bead that slows down when it hits enemies. It deals damage to them.

Transcendent State: Arc of Ruin: Yunara fires a laser that deals damage.

    Yunara W

This ability first reminded me of Gnar’s Q as it is quite similar in terms of gameplay:ou throw it and it deals damage. I think this ability will be the catalyst for an all-in and is a good engage/disengage tool. I think also that this ability will be great for wave clear too.

    Yunara’s E is Kanmei’s Steps/Untouchable Shadow

She becomes ghosted and gains bonus movement speed that is increased when going towards an enemy.

Transcendent State: Untouchable Shadow: She dashes in a direction.

    Yunara E

This is going to be another versatile spell. She could use this to engage or disengage depending on the situation. I think if you want to use this ability to start a skirmish with the enemy, then you need to check the map first as it is going to be your main movement spell and could leave you vulnerable if you go in without checking the map first.

Yunara’s Ultimate is Transcend One’s Self

Yunara becomes Transcended for 15 seconds. While this is active, her W and E are changed, and the cooldowns are refreshed.

    Yunara R

So to start with, i think this is a pretty good Ultimate and it buffs both her W and E: see above for specific changes. Her E is better as she can use it as a dash now, which can be used over walls which will help her in sticky situations. Her W has a similar animation to Xerath’s Q as it is a laser now. Although, I personally don’t think her empowered W is super amazing.

    Potential Synergy

I think that there could be some really good champions who work with her as her kit has good follow-up and potential damage.

    Lulu

Lulu has good synergy with a lot of champions who want to auto-attack in team fights. As Yunara isn’t a spell-dominant champion, she could make great use of some of Lulu’s buffs, including the additional attack speed and Ultimate.

    Thresh

Thresh is a hard champion but works well with a lot of heroes who have good follow-up damage. If Thresh lands his Q, Yunara could follow up with her W and E, which will help her close the gap and take the enemy down.

Furthermore, as a lot of squishy ADCs are S-Tier right now, Thresh is even stronger!

    In Conclusion

Overall, I think Yunara is going to be a great new champion in LoL. She has a good kit that isn’t overpowered or overly complicated. She also has a dash, which is really important in the current state of League of Legends. All in alll, I cannot wait to give her a try when she hits the live servers.

We will be creating more content for Yunara, which you can find over on the Mobalytics Blog.
