Wuthering Waves Reroll Guide: Who to Prioritize

Wuthering Waves: Who to Reroll For

In this article, I hope to answer any and all questions you may have in terms of rerolling in Wuthering Waves. When it comes to meta, you can refer to our Wuthering Waves Tier List. Keep in mind this tier list is based on CBT 2, so things may change on release.

    First off, What is rerolling?

    Slot Machine

Rerolling is the process of making multiple accounts to “roll” on a character banner. Since these games have a gacha character acquisition system, you can abuse it by making new accounts over and over until you get the character you want.

By doing this, you will be able to start your account with multiple strong characters to carry you through the game. Or maybe you really like one specific character regardless of meta and want to start with them.

    Should you Reroll?

    Sad Slot Machine

When it comes to rerolling, there is no correct answer. If you have your eyes set on a specific character, whether for meta reasons or not, rerolling will guarantee you are able to get them. (Assuming you spend enough time)

It all comes down to what you value. If you’re willing to spend the time rerolling, there’s nothing wrong with it. If you don’t want to spend hours playing through the tutorial over and over, then don’t bother.

You can also choose not to reroll as a way to experience the game for what it is. If you get unlucky, you can take it as a challenge to tackle content with weaker characters.

    How to Reroll?

For Wuthering Waves, you have to make a new account every time you want to reroll. Once you do, simply rush through the intro/prologue of the game to the point you can pull for characters.

At this point in the game, Kuro Games have been extremely generous with giving out free currency.

    • When you start up your account, you’ll be able to quickly complete the 50 pulls on the Novice Banner to get a random Permanent 5-star.
    • You’ll also then be able to have a 5-star Selector Banner, where you can choose which Permanent 5-star to get within 80 pulls.
    • You also receive 20 pulls for the Event Character Banner.
    • Lastly, you’ll even get a FREE 5-star Permanent character of your choice. No pulling. With all of these freebies, rerolling becomes less and less of a priority. However, if you really want to min-max without spending money, you can still reroll.

    Recommended Reroll Strategies

When you get your free pulls (Lustrous Tide/Radiant Tide), you will have many different banners to pull from. If you want a more detailed look at the gacha system, you can read our full Wuthering Waves Gacha System Guide.

If you want to spend a ton of time rerolling, you can even combine multiple strategies to get your own perfect start. But with the time that takes, I wouldn’t advise it.

    Event Character Reroll

    Wuthering Waves Character Limited Banner

Currently, the Event Character is Jiyan. If you want to reroll for Jiyan, you’ll get 20 Radiant Tide from your rewards to pull. The odds of hitting aren’t amazing, but 20 pulls is enough to give it a try. You can definitely be unlucky and take too long, so keep that in mind.

If you’re reading this in the future, you can do this reroll strategy for any Event Character like Yinlin, Changli, Jinhsi, etc.

    Permanent Weapon Banner

    Wuthering Waves Permanent Weapon Banner

Upon hitting Union Level 45 (account level), you’ll receive a 5-star weapon of your choice. But maybe you want another 5-star weapon. For the weapon banner, you’ll be able to choose which weapon you want. With your Lustrous Tide, you can roll on the Weapon banner to try and hit the weapon you want.

    • Abyss Surges: Gauntlets
    • Cosmic Ripples: Rectifier
    • Emerald of Genesis: Sword
    • Lustrous Razor: Broadblade
    • Static Mist: Pistols

Once you do, you can then use your 5-star selector to get whatever character you want. This can be a good strategy if you want to build up one character to be as strong as possible.

When it comes to the 5-star permanent weapons, the Sword and Pistols are recommended. This is because they have CRIT Rate stats as opposed to ATK% for the others.

    Novice Banner Reroll

    Wuthering Waves Novice Banner

Lastly we have the basic reroll strategy. This will be used to target whatever permanent 5-stars you want. For example, maybe you want Encore, Jianxin, and Lingyang. If you one of those 3 on the Novice Banner, you can guarantee the other two on the free selector and selector banner.

Or maybe you want to have a character with RC2 (Resonance Chain 2). This is the duplicate system that buffs a character upon getting extra copies.

In this case, you can reroll on the novice banner until you get the 5-star you want, then use the selector and selector banner for additional copies.

Whatever the case may be, getting three 5-star characters is a very generous start. You can make do with what you get and just play, or reroll to your heart’s desire.

Important: Do not use Astrite (premium currency) during this reroll process. Astrite should be saved for pulling on Event Characters/Weapons, so you should try to reroll with the free Lustrous Tides you receive. You can make the reroll process slightly faster if you use your Astrite, just don’t use too much.

    Which 5-Star to Reroll For

Lastly, I’m going to quickly summarize which characters were strong from CBT2. This information is subject to change, but I’ll try to give an overview. If you want a more in-depth explanation on these characters, be sure to check out our Wuthering Waves Tier List.

There is a pool of five 5-star characters that you can receive from the Permanent pool.

    • Calcharo: Electro/Broadblade
    • Encore: Fusion/Rectifier
    • Jianxin: Aero/Gauntlets
    • Lingyang: Glacio/Gauntlets
    • Verina: Spectro/Rectifier

    Verina: S

    Wuthering Waves Verina Portrait

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spectro/Rectifier

In terms of meta, Verina is almost without a doubt the best choice. She is a flexible support that provides ATK buffs and healing. In general, DPS characters come and go, while dedicated support characters take longer to be power crept.

    Calcharo: A

    Wuthering Waves Calcharo Portrait

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Electro/Broadblade

Calcharo is a strong Main DPS character, but he doesn’t outperform other units. However, Yinlin is an upcoming Event Character that synergizes very well with Calcharo.

If you plan on pulling for Yinlin, having Calcharo will be a good idea.

    Encore: A

    Wuthering Waves Encore Portrait

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fusion/Rectifier

Encore is arguably the strongest Main DPS character currently in the game. However, this requires precise timing and attack ordering to optimize.

Overall, she’s a solid Main DPS option, and the release of a dedicated Sub DPS would increase her value even more.

    Lingyang: A

    Wuthering Waves Lingyang Portrait

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Glacio/Gauntlets

Lingyang is another solid DPS unit. Players weren’t impressed with his performance in CBT 2, but he’s shown to be on par with other 5-star characters.

His Forte Circuit makes him fight mid-air on pillars, which can be dicey since you can’t dodge as easily. However, he’s a solid option nonetheless, and you may enjoy his playstyle.

    Jianxin: B

    Wuthering Waves Jianxin Portrait

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Aero/Gauntlets

Jianxin is not a Main DPS like the 3 above, and she’s more like a jack of all trades character. She can do a bit of everything. She parrys, heals, shields, groups enemies, and has buffing capabilities as well.

However, when it comes to the meta, there isn’t a place where she really shines. If you want a character that is comfortable to play, Jianxin is perfect. But if you want to chase big damage, other options are better.
