Welt: Guide, Skills, Builds, Teams & More

Welt is one of the seven Standard 5-star units in the game and is always available from all banners. Welt is a Nihility unit that can function as both a hypercarry and a supportive sub-DPS.

Welt HSR Kit Overview (Trace Level 10)

Welt’s kit is centered around his Skill and Ultimate, both for supporting and dealing damage. His Ultimate – Synthetic Black Hole is an AoE attack with a 100% base chance to inflict Imprison onto all enemies, which delays enemies’ actions by 40% and reduces their Speed by 10%. At 120 base energy, this Ultimate is very spammable, especially when considering Welt’s second major trace – Judgment, which refunds an extra 10 Energy when he uses his Ultimate. His first major trace – Retribution further improves his Ultimate by giving it a 100% base chance to inflict a 12% Damage Taken debuff on all enemies.

Welt’s Skill – Edge of the Void is a Bounce-type attack, dealing a total of 3 hits with the combined value of 216% Multiplier Value. This skill has a base 75% chance on each individual hit to reduce the enemy’s Speed by 10% for 2 turns. Welt’s Talent is a massive Multiplier Value increase to his kit. Every time Welt deals damage to an enemy that is already Slowed, he deals an Additional Damage instance equal to 60% of his Attack. So when Welt uses his Skill against enemies that are Slowed (reduced Speed), his Skill actually has a 396% Multiplier Value as it hits 3 times. This gives Welt decent potential as a Damage Dealer, with a very skill-intensive playstyle.

The rest of Welt’s kit is nothing noteworthy. His third major trace – Punishment lets him deal 20% more damage against enemies who are Weakness Broken. It is worth noting that Welt has pretty decent Toughness Damage with his Skill, and Imaginary Break will further delay enemies so that he will get some good mileage out of this trace. His Technique is a Dimension type, where he creates a Special Zone that slows all enemies, and when entering battle, this will inflict Imprisonment on all enemies for 1 turn.

Welt’s playstyle is heavily dependent on keeping Imprisonment and Slow onto all enemies, which also serves as a boost to the team’s survivability. This has led some players to use Welt as a pseudo-sustain, but this is not a consistent playstyle. Welt has some interesting debuffs in his kit that benefit everyone in the team, with a very spammable Ultimate. The concept of his kit was not bad and had potential, and he was used primarily back in the day as either a hypercarry or a supportive damage dealer, but these days his Multiplier Values, as well as Debuff’s power, are simply not at a competitive level anymore, with a lot more powerful Damage Dealers and support units available. All in all, Welt can be a fun option to mess around with if players have ample resources, but not a character with good, let alone great, return on investment.

    Welt HSR Core Skills

    Basic Attack - Gravity Suppression

Basic Attack – Gravity Suppression: Deals Imaginary DMG equal to 100% of Welt’s ATK to one designated enemy.

Skill - Edge of the Void

Skill – Edge of the Void: Deals Imaginary DMG equal to 72% of Welt’s ATK to one designated enemy and further deals DMG 2 extra times, with each time dealing Imaginary DMG equal to 72% of Welt’s ATK to a random enemy. On hit, there is a 75% base chance to reduce the enemy’s SPD by 10% for 2 turn(s).

    Ultimate - Synthetic Black Hole

Ultimate – Synthetic Black Hole: Deals Imaginary DMG equal to 150% of Welt’s ATK to all enemies, with a 100% base chance for enemies hit by this ability to be Imprisoned for 1 turn.
Imprisoned enemies have their actions delayed by 40% and SPD reduced by 10%.

    Talent - Time Distortion

Talent – Time Distortion: When hitting an enemy that is already Slowed, Welt deals Imaginary Additional DMG equal to 60% of his ATK to the enemy.

    Technique - Gravitational Imprisonment

Technique – Gravitational Imprisonment: After using Welt’s Technique, create a Special Dimension that lasts for 15 second(s). Enemies in this Special Dimension have their movement speed reduced by 50%. After entering battle with enemies in the Special Dimension, there is a 100% base chance to Imprison the enemies for 1 turn.

    Welt HSR Traces

    Retribution

Retribution: When using Ultimate, there is a 100% base chance to increase the DMG taken by the targets by 12% for 2 turn(s).

    Judgment

Judgment: Using Ultimate additionally regenerates 10 Energy.

    Punishment

Punishment: Deals 20% more DMG to enemies inflicted with Weakness Break.

    Welt HSR Eidolons

    Welt HSR Eidolons

    1. Legacy of Honor: After using Ultimate, Welt gets enhanced. Then, the next 2 time(s) he uses Basic ATK or Skill, deals 1 extra instance of Additional DMG to the enemy target. The Additional DMG dealt when using Basic ATK is equal to 50% of Basic ATK DMG multiplier. The Additional DMG dealt when using Skill is equal to 80% of Skill DMG multiplier.
    2. Conflux of Stars: When his Talent is triggered, Welt regenerates 3 Energy.
    3. Prayer of Peace: Skill Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Basic ATK Lv. +1, up to a maximum of Lv. 10.
    4. Appellation of Justice: When using Skill, increases the base chance of reducing the attacked enemy target’s SPD by 35%.
    5. Power of Kindness: Ultimate Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Talent Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15.
    6. Prospect of Glory: When using Skill, deals DMG for 1 extra time to a random enemy.

    Eidolon Priority

As Welt’s base kit is quite weak compared to modern units, his Eidolons are also not valuable. Amongst this, his best Eidolons are E1, E2, and E6. E1 enhances Welt after he uses his Ultimate, so his next two Basic or Skill usage will deal extra damage. His E2 further improves his ability to upkeep this and spam his Ultimate. His E4 is his weakest Eidolon, increasing the Speed debuffing aspect, but this is mostly redundant since he should get a lot of Ultimate usage for delaying enemies anyway. His E6 is a pretty massive damage increase for him, increasing his Skill Multiplier Value from 396% to 643%, and is definitely his most valuable Eidolon.

Overall, while DPS Welt is a fun novelty, it is absolutely not worth chasing his Eidolon in all circumstances.

    • Eidolon 1: Low
    • Eidolon 2: Low
    • Eidolon 4: Very Low

    Premium Options

    Incessant Rain

Incessant Rain: Increases the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate by 24% / 28% / 32% / 36% / 40%. When the wearer deals DMG to an enemy that currently has 3 or more debuffs, increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 12% / 14% / 16% / 18% / 20%. After the wearer uses their Basic ATK, Skill, or Ultimate, there is a 100% base chance to implant Aether Code on a random hit target that does not yet have it. Targets with Aether Code receive 12% / 14% / 16% / 18% / 20% increased DMG for 1 turn.

Incessant Rain is the perfect DPS Light Cone for Welt, giving him a very welcome Crit Rate buff and Effect Hit Rate buff (so he can consistently land his debuffs without investment). The extra Damage Received debuff is also quite great when there are other damage dealers on the team.

    Along the Passing Shore

Along the Passing Shore: Increases the wearer’s CRIT DMG by 36% / 42% / 48% / 54% / 60%. When the wearer hits an enemy target, inflict Mirage Fizzle on the enemy, lasting for 1 turn.

Each time the wearer attacks, this effect can only trigger 1 time on each target. The wearer deals 24% / 28% / 32% / 36% / 40% increased DMG to targets afflicted with Mirage Fizzle, and the DMG dealt by Ultimate additionally increases by 24% / 28% / 32% / 36% / 40%.

Along the Passing Shore is a more selfish premium option compared to Incessant Rant, granting a strong damage increase via all of its effects, in exchange for no teamwide utilities.

    Good Night and Sleep Well

Good Night and Sleep Well: For every debuff the target enemy has, the DMG dealt by the wearer increases by 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24%, stacking up to 3 time(s). This effect also applies to DoT.

Good Night and Sleep Well grants a massive 72% Damage increase at SuperImposition 5, with quite an easy condition to meet for Welt. Being a gacha Light Cone that was available since launch, chances are players might have this lying around at one point.

    Boundless Choreo

    Boundless Choreo: Increase the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8.0% / 10.0% / 12.0% / 14.0% / 16.0%. The wearer deals 24.0% / 30.0% / 36.0% / 42.0% / 48.0% more CRIT DMG to enemies that are currently DEF reduced or Slowed.

Boundless Choreo is a good alternative to Good Night and Sleep Well. Welt does not have any innate Crit Rate or Crit Damage in his kit, so the extra Crit Rate is very handy. The extra Crit Damage boost is essentially permanent for Welt since he can apply Slow constantly.

    F2P Options

In the Name of the World

    In the Name of the World: Increases the wearer’s DMG to debuffed enemies by 24% / 28% / 32% / 36% / 40%. When the wearer uses their Skill, the Effect Hit Rate for this attack increases by 18% / 21% / 24% / 27% / 30%, and ATK increases by 24% / 28% / 32% / 36% / 40%.

Welt’s Signature Light Cone can be obtained via the Starlight shop, and it is overall not bad on him as it grants a lot of raw stats, but it should be considered worse than all the aforementioned premium options since the stats it grants are not as rare/powerful enough

    HSR Welt Main Stats

    • Body: Crit Damage% / Crit Rate%
    • Feet: Attack% / Speed
    • Orb: Imaginary Damage% / Attack%
    • Rope: Attack% / Energy Regeneration Rate%

Welt’s personal damage can be quite noticeable when built. Since he has no innate Crit-trace, a Crit Rate / Crit Damage chest is optimal on him. For boot, both Attack% and Speed boot are viable. Attack% boot is great with teammates that can grant him a Speed boost or extra action advance like Sparkle / Cerydra, while Speed boot is great for support / sub-DPS Welt, or with 100% Action Advancer like Sunday.

For Orb, both Imaginary % and Attack% are great to bolster his damage output. If used as a pure Support, players can consider a HP% or Def% Orb and/or Chest. Attack% Rope would be best for hypercarry Welt, while Energy Regeneration Rope% is viable for a more supportive / sub-dps build.

    HSR Welt Sub Stats

    • Crit Damage% / Crit Rate%
    • Speed

For Substats, hypercarry Welt should look for Crit Damage and Crit Rate, as he needs a lot to get to an acceptable ratio. Speed is a great stat to look for for sub-DPS / Support build since Welt is not innately speedy, and extra turn for him can go a long way in keeping the team alive / maintaining the debuffs.

    HSR Welt Relics

    Option A

    Scholar Lost in Erudition

    Scholar Lost in Erudition:

    • 2-Pc: Increases CRIT Rate by 8%.
    • 4-Pc: Increases DMG dealt by Skill and Ultimate by 20%. After using Ultimate, additionally increases the DMG dealt by the next Skill by 25%.

This set gives a very valuable 8% Crit Rate and further improves two of Welt’s primary damage sources – his Skill and Ultimate.

    Option B

    Eagle of Twilight Line

    Eagle of Twilight Line:

    • 2-Pc: Increases DMG dealt to enemies with debuffs by 12%.
    • 4-Pc: Increases CRIT Rate by 4%. The wearer deals 8%/12% increased CRIT DMG to enemies with at least 2/3 debuffs. After the wearer inflicts a debuff on enemy targets, the aforementioned effects increase by 100%, lasting for 1 turn(s).

Welt should not have trouble maintaining the full condition of this set, essentially gaining 8% Crit Rate, 24% Crit Damage, and 12% damage against debuff enemies.

    Option C

    Eagle of Twilight Line

    Eagle of Twilight Line:

    • 2-Pc: Increases Wind DMG by 10%.
    • 4-Pc: After the wearer uses their Ultimate, their action is Advanced Forward by 25%.

This set is best for a supportive Welt. Welt’s Ultimate is very cheap, especially when built with Energy Regeneration Rate, so he can constantly advance himself with this set.

    HSR Welt Planar Set:

    Rutilant Arena:

    • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s current CRIT Rate reaches 70% or higher, Damage dealt by Basic ATK and Skill increases by 20%.

A simple stat stick option that is good in most situations, granting Welt 8% Crit Rate and improving his Skill Damage.

Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm

Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm:

    • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 12%. When entering battle, if at least one teammate follows the same Path as the wearer, then the wearer’s CRIT Rate increases by 12%.

When Welt is used with another Nihility unit like Cipher, Silver Wolf, or Acheron, players can consider this set as the raw stats it gives are quite considerable.

    Lushaka, the Sunken Seas

    Lushaka, the Sunken Seas:

    • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. If the wearer is not the first character in the team lineup, then increases the ATK of the first character in the team lineup by 12%.

Lushaka is best for support Welt build, since it gives a very valuable Energy Regeneration Rate boost, on top of an extra Attack boost to the team hypercarry.

    HSR Welt Teammates

As a hypercarry, Welt works with most crit-scaling hypercarry supports. As a sub-DPS / support unit, players can use Welt as a secondary support or even as the last spot as a pseudo-sustain unit.

    Harmony/Nihility

    Sunday, Robin and Tribbie

Sunday / Robin / Tribbie: These units are the pinnacle of hypercarry supports, and all work well with Welt. The ideal combination should be Sunday and Robin, as Sunday provides everything Welt needs (Action Advance, Energy, Crit Rate buff, Crit Damage, and Damage buff) while Robin grants a massive Attack boost that Welt highly appreciates and teamwide advance, which results in more damage windows.

    Cerydra

Cerydra: Cerydra is one of the best Supports for Skill-based Damage Dealer and provides both a large Attack boost and a Skill duplication mechanic, both are great for Welt.

    Sparkle and Remembrance Trailblazer

Sparkle / Remembrance Trailblazer: Both units can let Welt run Attack boot while staying very SP positive so Welt can spam his Skills.

    Cipher and Silver Wolf

Cipher / Silver Wolf: Nihility debuffers work well with Welt, allowing him to run sets the Diver set or the Izumo planar set.

    Sustain

    dan heng

Dan Heng – Permansor Terrae: DHPT is by far Welt’s best sustain since he gives Welt a massive attack buff, while also being very SP positive.

    Damage Dealers:

    acheron

Acheron: Since Welt is a Nihility unit, he can fulfill Acheron’s Nihility count condition and also generate a lot of stacks for her.

    HSR Welt Teams

    Welt Hypercarry:

    Welt Hypercarry

    Acheron Team:

    acheron

HSR Welt Pull Value and Conclusion

Compared to most modern Damage Dealers and Supports, Welt is simply outclassed at this stage of the game. For newer players, Welt is also not a particularly great choice since he requires a lot of investment to get going. As such, Welt can be a fun side project for players that have abundant of resources, and can be useful in some fringe cases, but beyond that he is entirely skippable.
