These rankings are designed for Tournament mode, so keep that in mind when playing Quickplay or Solo.

We also have a list of the best weapons in The Finals if you’re interested in that as well.

For an alternative view of our Equipment tier list for The Finals, here’s an infographic version:

    The Finals Equipment Commentary

As usual with all of our tier list recommendations, we want to emphasize that the player and their playstyle always come first. If you’re finding success with niche choices like the Motion Sensor or Tracking Dart, more power to you!

Keep doing what you’re doing if it’s working and only consult this list when you begin to struggle.

Rather than telling you what to do, we want to instead give you a glimpse of what is popular in the current meta of the game.

    Best Light Equipment

    Tier Light Equipment Rankings
    S
    • Stun Gun, Glitch Grenade, Vanishing Bomb
    A
    • Frag Grenade, Breach Charge, Gas Grenade, Flashbang, Smoke Grenade, Pyro Grenade
    B
    • Motion Sensor, Goo Grenade

The Light class is the glass cannon of the Finals, and since they are so fragile, their best Equipment enables them to take targets out while minimizing damage to themselves.

In S-tier, we have the Stun Gun, Glitch Grenade, and Vanishing Bomb make the fight unfair for their targets.

Even despite the nerfs to the Stun Gun’s duration, every Light will want to take it due to its incredible use in almost any scenario. It can be used to engage, help you escape, disrupt enemy Cashout steals, and more.

The Glitch Grenade has risen in popularity recently as a countermeasure against shields, turrets, and other common utility. One well-placed Glitch Grenade can shut down a team’s strategy.

Vanishing Bomb being in S-tier is a bit of a hot take and it’s certainly on the border of A-tier, but it has been slowly creeping up in many Light builds at high levels as teams become more coordinated and learn how to abuse its potential.

In A-tier, the Light has the Breach Charge, which is a worse version of the C4, and the rest of the usual grenades. These are all fine choices but are more adaptive based on your needs rather than must-haves.

Lastly in B-tier, are the Motion Sensor and Goo Grenade. The Goo Grenade is B-tier for all classes since it’s easy to get around/destroy/is readily available from the map’s canisters.

Motion Sensor is okay but scouting is better off done by a Medium teammate since that is more of their niche. With superior movement abilities or invisibility, the Light class can usually scout safely in most situations.

    Best Medium Equipment

    Tier Medium Equipment Rankings
    S
    • Defibrillator, Jump Pad, APS Turret
    A
    • Sonar Grenade, Frag Grenade, Gas Grenade, Gas Mine, Zipline, Explosive Mine, Flashbang, Pyro Grenade
    B
    • Glitch Trap, Goo Grenade, Tracking Dart

For Medium, the best Equipment plays into the class’s unique supportive capabilities that help to enable their team.

Having the Defibrillator as an instant revive in a game where respawns are limited is in incredibly powerful, honestly, it’s probably the best Equipment in the game.  If you don’t have at least one in your party, you are sort of throwing.

Next up is the Jump Pad, which not only helps your team with vertical movement but can also be used offensively for burst movements in fights or defensively by putting them on stairs or other chokepoints to slow down enemy pushes. It’s one of those abilities that really rewards creativity and has its use in almost any situation.

Lastly in the S-tier is the APS Turret, which is more situational than the first two and on the borderline of A-tier. However in a game where abilities are on cooldowns that can last a while and fights can come down to split-seconds, being able to stop enemy grenades and other utility can pull out victories in situations where you would’ve otherwise lost.

A-tier has some really great choices like the Gas Mine and Gas Grenade, the Sonar Grenade which enables long-range scouting, and the Zipline which helps your team with long-distance traversal.

With the recent buffs to Flamethrower, Gas is slightly less appealing but still very strong in many situations – especially against invis.

Since many Mediums take wallhacks, the Sonar Grenade can be redundant but is an appealing option for Turret/Healers.

The Zipline helps you get further than the Jumping Pad but is more limited in its usage and versatility.

In B-tier, we have the Glitch Trap, Goo Grenade, and Tracking Dart. The Glitch Trap, although powerful when it works, is a bit too unreliable and can feel like you need the stars to align to pull off. In most cases, you’re better off having your Light take a Glitch Grenade or use a different type of mine instead.

There have been some players who have had success with the Tracking Dart, but it’s a bit too niche for us to recommend and the Medium class is already very good at scouting enemies.

    Best Heavy Equipment

    Tier Heavy Equipment Rankings
    S
    • RPG-7, C4, Dome Shield, Barricade
    A
    • Frag Grenade, Gas Grenade, Pyro Mine, Explosive Mine, Flashbang, Pyro Grenade
    B
    • Goo Grenade

Finally at the top for the Heavy class, is Equipment that helps your team manipulate the environment and control space.

Both the RPG and C4 were recently nerfed but are still insanely powerful. Sure, the RPG doesn’t 1-shot Lights anymore, but it can still turn fights around in an instant and of course offers the utility of destroying the environment from afar.

Nukes were nerfed but the Heavy is usually in the thick of things, so you can still do some solid bombs from close range. Plus, the C4 is still handy in breaching or protecting a Cashout.

The Dome Shield and Barricade offer unique possibilities that the Light and Medium classes cannot offer as you can protect your teammates, control chokepoints, block entryways, and more. All while forcing the enemy team to commit resources to removing them.

In A-tier you have the usual package of grenades which are fine based on their situation but aren’t nearly as impactful as the S-tier Heavy Equipment options.

Lastly, is the Goo Grenade which is even weaker than other classes since the Heavy has access to the Goo Gun which has some interesting synergies with the Flamethrower.
