TFT Set 9: Soul Brawl Guide

How to Play TFT Soul Brawl

With the new LoL/TFT event comes new cosmetics as well as a fun new game mode for TFT. If you played in Set 8, you might remember “Fortune’s Favor,” a casual game mode that gave a ton more loot.

Essentially, Soul Brawl is just like that. You will get more loot throughout the game, but there are some new rules to spice up the game.

Let’s dig in to everything you need to know to win your Soul Brawl game.

    TFT Soul Brawl Rules

    TFT Soul Brawl Guide

Here’s a quick TLDR of Soul Brawl:

    • There is no Health. When you takedown units or win/lose a round, you will gain Soul Power.
    • Everyone is granted a Soul Crown to make your team stronger. You can use this item to empower a champion, and is reminiscent of Mecha:Prime. You can reuse this item over and over to switch which champion you empower.
    • At 4-1, instead of fighting other players like normal, you will be put into a bracket. You will play one opponent in a best 2 out of 3. The winner of this bo3 moves onto the next round, and eventually onto the final to declare a winner.

    Soul Power

    TFT Soul Power Rewards

In Soul Brawl, the first two stages (Stage 2 and 3) do not reduce Health, and in fact, there is no Health in Soul Brawl. Instead, as you fight other players, you will gain Soul Power. Every unit you take down will grant you Soul Power, and winning the round will also grant you Soul Power.

This Soul Power will grant you loot (but not more loot). At 2-5, 2-8, 3-5, and 3-8, you will be granted a shop of loot (ranging from items, to emblems, etc).

The more Soul Power you have, the more options you will be able to choose from. As such, winning these early rounds is important to get better loot, but you also need to balance your economy to build a strong team for when the bracket starts.

    Soul Crown

    TFT Imperfect Soul Crown

The Soul Crown is an item that every player is granted. At the start of the game, you will gain a low power Soul Crown that you can use to empower a Champion.

This will give them bonus stats (20 AD, 20 AP, 30% Health) and also apply one additional trait to your team. The Crown specifically states “+1 to the last listed Trait.” This means you will be granting one additional “class” trait to your team.

For example, if you place this Crown on Samira, you won’t gain +1 Noxus, but +1 Challenger. Be sure to use this as soon as you get it, as you can reuse this item to change your empowered Champion.

    TFT Soul Crown

Once the game hits 4-1 and the bracket is decided, the Soul Crown will upgrade. This now grants even more stats (40 AD, 40 AP, 50% Health), and provides a resurrection effect.

    Soul Brawl Bracket

    TFT Soul Brawl Bracket

Once the game hits 4-1, you won’t be playing other players like usual. Instead, you will be placed in a bracket. You will face off the same opponent in 3 rounds, or until one player wins 2 rounds. You will then move up the bracket, repeat, and once again in a final 1v1 to win the lobby.

    Extra Rules

Soul Brawl also has some special rules that might not be clear up front. Here’s a quick rundown of additional rules.

    • There is no gold gained from win streaking / lose streaking.
This means you will want to simply win as many fights as you can during Stage 2 and 3.
    • You still gain gold from winning (1 gold) and from interest like usual.
    • Passive Gold income is increased to 8 (from 5 normally)

Overall, you gain much more gold than in normal TFT. You can choose to quickly save up to 50 to build a stronger team later, but you will lose out on Soul Power that can grant you better loot for your team.

    Conclusion

This wraps up just about everything you need to know about Soul Brawl. It’s a fast paced, loot filled game mode where you can build some incredibly powerful teams.

This game mode won’t last forever, so be sure to get your fun in while you can.

Thanks for reading, and I hope this helped.
