TFT Set 15 Guide: How to Play Wraith

How to Play Wraith — TFT Set 15: K.O. Coliseum

Wraith lets the Shadow Realm free as it strikes down your enemies. With Kayle, Zac, Jhin, Malazahar, K’Sante, and Varus at your side they are ready to strike down your opponents and send them to the Shadow Realm! Let’s take a dive into the Wraith Trait and what the units do!

Explore all of the new Set 15 traits here!

    How TFT Wraith Works

    TFT Set 15 Wraith

    Wraith Trait Bonus

Every 5 seconds, the Shadow Realm strikes the 3 closest enemies, dealing total magic damage equal to a portion of damage dealt by Wraiths since the last trigger.

Your lowest health Wraith heals for 18% of damage dealt by Wraiths and the Shadow Realm.

    • (2) 18% damage.
    • (4) 35% damage.
    • (6) 55% damage.

    Wraith Synergy

Additional traits of the Wraith champions that give the opportunity to create trait webs:

    • Kayle (1G) – Duelist
    • Zac (1G) – Heavyweight
    • Jhin (2G) – Sniper
    • Malzahar (3G) – Prodigy
    • K’Sante (4G) – Protector
    • Varus (5G) – Sniper

    The Wraith Trait

With 6 units there are no overlaps in traits outside of the main trait: Wraith. One thing to note is that because the Shadow Realm opens every 3 seconds, this trait is okay with fights going longer so it can use it’s trait to win fights. However, it is possible that sustain compositions would give this trait an issue, so make sure to build anti-heal in these compositions for sure!

    TFT Wraith Champions

    Kayle (1G) – Duelist

    TFT Set 15 Kayle

Kayle is a Duelist which isn’t ideal for this composition as Duelist tend to want to be vertical and want faster fights. In Duelist, I expect Kayle to be strong, but I am not so sure about her in Wraith other than being a trait bot.

With her passive her attacks deal (AP) bonus magic damage and she gains additional power based on your Tactician’s level. At level 6, every third attack she launches a wave that deals (AP) magic damage and shreds 20% of enemies for 3 seconds. At level 9 every attack she launches a wave and waves travel farther.

If for some reason 2 Duelist was exceptionally strong, it is possible that you reroll Kayle and then push levels while adding Wraith in if dipping deeply into Duelist doesn’t make sense.

    Zac (1G) – Heavyweight

    TFT Set 15 Zac

    [Link to Champion Page]

Zac, a Heavyweight has the ability Reality Ripple where he heals (AP) and deals (AP & Health) magic damage to enemies within a 1-hex radius. I do wish that Zac offered some form of crowd control as that would make him scale better into the later phases of the game. Overall, he feels like he will be more of a trait bot this set.

    Jhin (2G) – Sniper

    TFT Set 15 Jhin

    [Link to Champion Page]

Jhin is not a four cost, but you know 2+2 = 4 so close enough. At 2 cost, he has the ability The Curtain Falls with the passive attack speed is always the same, converting 1% bonus attack speed into Attack Damage. Every fourth attack is enhanced to deal (AD) physical damage. Now that is more like it with every 4 attacks.

    Malzahar (3G) – Prodigy

    TFT Set 15 Malzahar

    [Link to Champion Page]

Malzahar has the ability INsidious Whispers where he infects the closest uninfected target, dealing (AP) magic damage over 15 seconds. If an infected target dies, the infection spreads to the nearest uninfected target for any remaining time. Oh Mortdog, you love your dot mages and your Malzahar. Something important to note here is that Malazahr being aligned to put does on weak units early to kill them off and move his infection to stronger units will be helpful when positioning.

    K’Sante (4G) – Protector

    TFT Set 15 K'Sante

    [Link to Champion Page]

K’Sante is the much needed front line of this trait with his Protector trait. K’Sante himself has loaded abilities. First, his passive (ALL OUT) on first death instead heals to full, gains attack speed, converts a percent of armor and magic resistance into attack damage, and sets max mana to 30. Then dash through the target and briefly stun them.

While ALL OUT, lose Health each second and heal 30% on kill. With his active he gains (AP) durability for 3 seconds, then deals (Amor & Magic) physical damage to the target. His active (ALL OUT) deals physical damage to the target.
Essentially, Sion has what feels closer to a Sion vibe about him. I am excited to see the way he functions in the game!

    Varus (5G) – Sniper

    TFT Set 15 Varus

    [Link to Champion Page]

Varus is a 5 cost Sniper which will be great for Snipers but doesn’t do a lot for the Wraith trait outside of being a 5 cost unit who deals damage. His ability Level Zero: 100 Shot Demon has a passive where he gains mana when units die. Enemies grant 5 while allies grant 3. His active is Fire piercing arrows per second at random enemies until Varus is out of mana.

Each arrow costs 12 mana and eals (AD & AP) physical damage, reduced by 35% per hit.
I love the sound of Varus as he is unique. Also, dealing damage to random enemies is always a bit chaotic in Teamfight Tactics, so I am excited to see how he plays out on the field!
