TFT Set 15 Guide: How to Play Prodigy

How to Play Prodigy — TFT Set 15: K.O. Coliseum

Welcome to our trait guide, where we’ll be covering the Prodigy trait in the new TFT Set 15: K.O. Coliseum. In this guide, we’ll explain how Prodigy works, cover the different champions, and give a quick rundown of the other potential traits you could branch into.

Explore all of the new Set 15 traits here!

    How TFT Prodigy Works

    Prodigy Trait Bonus

    TFT Set 15 Prodigy

    Champions: Ezreal 1g / Syndra 1g / Malzahar 3g / Yuumi 4g / Seraphine 5g

Your team gains Mana Regen. Prodigies gain more.

    • (2) 1 Mana Regen | 3 Mana Regen
    • (3) 2 Mana Regen | 5 Mana Regen
    • (4) 3 Mana Regen | 7 Mana Regen
    • (5) 4 Mana Regen | 9 Mana Regen | Prodigy abilities heal an ally for 12% of the damage dealt.

Prodigy is an excellent supporting ability for your team, granting Mana Regen to all champions regardless of their Role. It’ll be interesting to see how the new Champion Roles affect the Mana balance, as that may partially determine the usefulness of having a Prodigy bonus.

    Prodigy Synergy

Here’s a rundown of the traits you can branch into from Prodigy:

    • Ezreal – Battle Academia
    • Syndra – Crystal Gambit / Star Guardian
    • Malzahar – Wraith
    • Yuumi – Battle Academia
    • Seraphine – Star Guardian

Despite only five existing Prodigies (excluding Ekko), there’s actually two bonus synergies to take advantage of. Ezreal and Yuumi follow the common 1:1 trait pattern at 1-cost and 4-cost, sharing Battle Academia. Additionally, Syndra and Seraphine also tie together with Star Guardian, opening even more pathways to benefit from Prodigy. Perhaps this is an indicator of its importance? We’ll have to wait and see!

    TFT Prodigy Champions

    Ezreal Battle Academia Prodigy 1g

Ezreal is a basic backline carry that deals a split between magic and physical damage with his Rising Spell Force ability. His main strength is having direct trait synergy with Yuumi, but seeing Prodigy’s potential he’ll probably be splashed onto various comps just for some Mana Regen.

Syndra Crystal Gambit Star Guardian Prodigy 1g

    [Link to Champion Page]

Syndra’s Bright Star Blast ability deals magic damage to the target plus reduces their Magic Resist. Pretty solid utility for a 1-cost spell-caster, but Syndra has so much more. She gets three traits, two of which are Origin traits with the third being Prodigy. Her personal Star Guardian buff grants all Star Guardians AP every few seconds!  A phenomenal early pickup.

    Malzahar Wraith Prodigy 3g

    TFT Set 15 Malzahar

    [Link to Champion Page]

Malzahar has a huge damage output that’s applied over a long duration of time. His Insidious Whispers ability infects the closest target, dealing a ton of magic damage over a 15 second window. However, if the affected foe dies, the infection spreads to the next nearby target and carries on the original duration. If you’ve got a comp that’s built for longer fights, Malzahar certain has the output to support that game plan.

    Yuumi Battle Academia Prodigy 4g

    TFT Set 15 Yuumi

    [Link to Champion Page]

Yuumi’s Read or Die ability launches a number of pages at her target and nearby foes. Each one deals a small amount of magic damage, but every subsequent cast adds five more. Yuumi scales tremendously the longer the fight goes, and Prodigy can really help ensure she’s able to cast as often as possible.

    Seraphine Star Guardian Prodigy 5g

    TFT Set 15 Seraphine

    [Link to Champion Page]

Seraphine as the leader of the Star Guardians, grants a massive team-wide buff to them all (AD, Armor, MR, Health, AS, Crit, CritMult). This naturally coincides with her Ultimate Friendship Bomb ability, dealing massive AoE magic damage based on the “Power of Friendship” (based on all your team’s bonus stats). She’s the perfect top-end to the vertical comp, while also granting Prodigy if you have the space for it.
