TFT Set 15 Guide: How to Play Heavyweight

How to Play Heavyweight — TFT Set 15: K.O. Coliseum

Welcome to our trait guide, where we’ll be covering the Heavyweight trait in the new TFT Set 15: K.O. Coliseum. In this guide, we’ll explain how Heavyweight works, cover the different champions, and give a quick rundown of the other potential traits you could branch into.

Explore all of the new Set 15 traits here!

    How TFT Heavyweight Works

    Heavyweight Trait Bonus

    TFT Set 15 Heavyweight

    Champions: Aatrox 1g / Zac 1g / Kobuko 2g / Darius 3g / Jayce 3g / Poppy 4g

Your team gains 100 Health. Heavyweights gain additional bonus Health, and Attack Damage equal to a percentage of their Health.

    • (2) 20% Health | 0.20% Health to AD
    • (4) 40% Health | 0.40% Health to AD
    • (6) 55% Health | 0.60% Health to AD

Heavyweight is a great low commitment defensive trait, allowing you to easy splash a two-piece for team-wide bonus Health. Though if you decide to invest further, your Heavyweights can actually start turning into carries with the Health to AD scaling.

    Heavyweight Synergy

Here’s a rundown of the traits you can branch into from Heavyweight:

    • Aatrox – Mighty Mech / Juggernaut
    • Zac – Wraith
    • Kobuko – Mentor
    • Darius – Supreme Cells
    • Jayce – Battle Academia
    • Poppy – Star Guardian

Unfortunately Heavyweight doesn’t come with additional synergies, but it’s still a great early pickup to help bolster your defenses.

    TFT Heavyweight Champions

Aatrox Mighty Mech Juggernaut Heavyweight 1g

    TFT Set 15 Aatrox

Aatrox can heal himself before dealing physical damage to his target, with bonus healing/damage depending on Aatrox’s missing health. As a 1-cost unit with three traits, he’s a great asset to have early on, especially to get an early dip into Juggernaut + Heavyweight bonuses.

    Zac Wraith Heavyweight 1g

    TFT Set 15 Zac

    [Link to Champion Page]

Zac’s Reality Ripple heals then deals magic damage to enemies within a small radius. He’s a very simple early game tank, but a very accessible way to get Heavyweight early.

    Kobuko Mentor Heavyweight 2g

    TFT Set 15 Kobuko

    [Link to Champion Page]

Kobuko can create a shield that protects himself for a few seconds, then sets up his next attack to deal bonus physical damage while Stunning the target. Additionally, as a Mentor Kobuko grants Durability to your team, pairing very well with Heavyweight bonuses. Two great traits and early access to CC makes Kobuko an excellent choice.

    Darius Supreme Cells Heavyweight 3g

    TFT Set 15 Darius

    [Link to Champion Page]

Darius uses his Grand Guillotine ability to heal himself before dealing a ton of physical damage to his target, with increased damage against Tanks. If the target of his ability dies, he immediately recasts it with slightly less power. This makes him a great counter against tanky comps, while being a flexible fit thanks to Heavyweight.

    Jayce Battle Academia Heavyweight 3g

    TFT Set 15 Jayce

    [Link to Champion Page]

Jayce’s Thundering Hammerstrike deals physical damage to enemies within a radius around his target. He’s a pretty average bruiser that can help splash into Heavyweight, or build towards a vertical Battle Academia comp.

    Poppy Star Guardian Heavyweight 4g

    TFT Set 15 Poppy

    [Link to Champion Page]

Poppy creates a large shield on herself that breaks after a few seconds, dealing physical damage to the target and nearby enemies. Depending on how long the shield was held, enemies hit will be Stunned for a brief period. This is a solid ability, but what really makes Poppy shine is her unique Star Guardian bonus, granting all Star Guardians an emergency heal at 40% Health. Add in Heavyweight and your units will be happy and healthy for much longer.
