TFT Set 15 Guide: How to Play Duelist

How to Play Duelist — TFT Set 15: K.O. Coliseum

Welcome to our trait guide, where we’ll be covering the Duelist trait in the new TFT Set 15: K.O. Coliseum. In this guide, we’ll explain how Duelist works, cover the different champions, and give a quick rundown of the other potential traits you could branch into.

Explore all of the new Set 15 traits here!

    How TFT Duelist Works

    Duelist Trait Bonus

    TFT Set 15 Duelist

    Champions: Kayle 1g / Gangplank 2g / Kai’Sa 2g / Udyr 3g / Viego 3g / Ashe 4g

Duelists gain Attack Speed on each attack, stacking up to 12 times.

    • (2) 4% AS
    • (4) 7% AS
    • (6) 10% AS; Duelists gain 12% DR

Duelist is Set 15’s Attack Speed trait that allows champions to scale faster throughout combat. It’s worth noting that unlike Rapidfire, this trait only applies to other Duelists and not the entire team, making it less splashable.

    Duelist Synergy

Here’s a rundown of the traits you can branch into from Duelist:

    • Kayle – Wraith
    • Gangplank – Mighty Mech
    • Kai’Sa – Supreme Cells
    • Udyr – Mentor / Juggernaut
    • Viego – Soul Fighter
    • Ashe – Crystal Gambit

Unfortunately there are no common traits between any of the Duelists, although given the trait specifically supports each other, you’re still going to want a pair regardless.

    TFT Duelist Champions

    Kayle Wraith Duelist 1g

    TFT Set 15 Kayle

Kayle’s basic attacks passively deal bonus magic damage and increase in power based on your Tactician level. Additionally, as you level her attacks grow stronger, eventually launching waves that Shreds enemies. She’s clearly got very strong late game potential, and the Attack Speed gained from Duelist will make her a menace on the battlefield. Wraith also gives her the chance to heal, helping sustain throughout longer fights.

    Gangplank Mighty Mech Duelist 2g

    TFT Set 15 Gangplank

    [Link to Champion Page]

Gangplank’s Golden Giga Gun deals physical damage to the lowest health enemy within range. If the target dies from the attack, he has a chance to gain 1 gold. This is a fun ability that may actually earn you some extra income, IF Gangplank can land the killing blow (and win the odds). Duelist should at least help give him more opportunities since he’ll have increased Attack Speed.

    Kai’Sa Supreme Cells Duelist 2g

    TFT Set 15 Kai'Sa

    [Link to Champion Page]

Kai’Sa permanently scales Attack Damage throughout the game for each kill she secures. As for her active ability, it fires eight missiles towards her target and nearby enemies, dealing a ton of physical damage. If you can take the time to invest in her early, her damage output could become absurd. Both Supreme Cells and Duelist fit well, making her faster, stronger, and adding the chance to execute weak foes.

    Udyr Mentor Juggernaut Duelist 3g

    TFT Set 15 Udyr

    [Link to Champion Page]

Udyr’s Blazing Phoenix Stance deals three separate rapid attacks, each one healing himself and dealing damage to enemies within range. His unique Mentor passive grants AD and AP to all allies, making him an excellent catch-all inclusion. On top of that he has Juggernaut and Duelist, overall making him a very well-rounded three trait champion.

    Viego Soul Fighter Duelist 3g

    TFT Set 15 Viego

    [Link to Champion Page]

Viego is similar to Kayle in that his basic attacks passively deal magic damage. As for his active, he unleashes a single target three attack combo, dealing a ton of magic damage with a Knock Up in the middle. The combination of Duelist + Soul Fighter lets him consistently hit for true damage, allowing him to help break through enemy defenses.

    Ashe Crystal Gambit Duelist 4g

    TFT Set 15 Ashe

    [Link to Champion Page]

Ashe’s Gates of Avarosa empowers her next eight attacks to fire additional arrows, allowing her to deal physical damage split between the target and two random nearby enemies. Duelist works very well with this ability, as the scaled Attack Speed will make it easier to get through every strengthened attack.
