TFT Set 14 Guide: How to Play Slayer

How to Play Slayer — TFT Set 14: Cyber City

Welcome to our trait guide, where we’ll be covering the Slayer trait in the new TFT Set 14: Cyber City. In this guide, we’ll explain how Slayer works, cover the different champions, and give a quick rundown of the other potential traits you could branch into.

Explore all of the new Set 14 traits here!

    How TFT Slayer Works

    Slayer Trait Bonus

    TFT Slayer Trait

    Champions: Dr. Mundo 1g / Shaco 1g / Vayne 2g / Jarvan IV 3g / Senna 3g / Zed 4g

Slayers gain Attack Damage and Omnivamp. Overhealing heals the lowest percent Health Slayer for 50% of the excess amount.

    • (2) 15% AD, 15% V
    • (4) 40% AD, 15% V
    • (6) 70% AD, 20% V

Slayer functions almost like an alternative to Marksman with its boost to Attack Damage. However, instead of doubling that bonus later in combat, they instead gain Omnivamp. This greatly increases the sustain and survivability of these champs, and what’s even better is that any excess overhealing gets passed to the most injured ally Slayer.

    Slayer Synergy

Here’s a rundown of the traits you can branch into from Slayer:

    • Dr. Mundo – Street Demon / Bruiser
    • Shaco – Syndicate
    • Vayne – Anima Squad
    • Jarvan IV – Golden Ox / Vanguard
    • Senna – Divinicorp
    • Zed – Cypher

Of the six Slayer champions there unfortunately aren’t any additional trait overlaps. Although, since two of them have three traits, it’s very possible to stay flexible while gaining the strong benefit that Slayer provides.

    TFT Slayer Champions

Dr. Mundo Street Demon Bruiser Slayer 1g

    TFT Set 14 Dr.Mundo

Dr. Mundo excels as an early game tank. Having three traits as a 1-cost unit is premium, and the combination of Bruiser + Slayer compliments his abilities well. He gets more max Health thanks to his passive increase, allowing for more room to take advantage of Omnivamp.

    Shaco Syndicate Slayer 1g

    TFT Set 14 Shaco

    [Link to Champion Page]

Shaco’s Felony Fantastique ability deals physical damage to his target, and if the Kingpin bonus is active, he’ll also teleport behind the lowest Health enemy within range. This gives Shaco excellent mobility and allows him to close the gap between the backline, ideally taking out the enemy carries.

What’s even better is his passive ability which grants a small percentage of permanent Attack Damage each time he slays an enemy. Stacking this up could potentially keep Shaco relevant throughout the game, and allow you to turn that scaled AD into Omnivamp healing for your other Slayers.

    Vayne Anima Squad Slayer 2g

    TFT Set 14 Vayne

    [Link to Champion Page]

Vayne is a pretty standard AD carry, but has the unique ability to deal bonus true damage with each cast of her Bat Bolts ability. Being able to naturally strike through Armor does give some later potential, though it will likely depend on what the overall numbers look like during a patch.

Jarvan IV Golden Ox Vanguard Slayer 3g

    TFT Set 14 Jarvan IV

    [Link to Champion Page]

Jarvan IV’s Half-Moon Sweep strikes the largest group of enemies in a semi-circle, granting him a Shield based on the number of enemies hit. The attack deals physical damage to them all while also reducing their Armor for the rest of combat.

This combined with having three traits makes Jarvan IV an excellent supportive tank that will amplify the damage ouput of your physical attackers. Slayer becomes a great fit naturally, and could be worth using in larger numbers thanks to Jarvan’s ability.

    Senna Divinicorp Slayer 3g

    TFT Set 14 Senna

    [Link to Champion Page]

Senna’s basic attacks deal damage to the target AND enemies adjacent to it. This greatly extends her reach across the battlefield, allowing her to simultaneously hit multiple enemies instead of being stuck focusing on one. Her Ion Beam ability fires beyond the current target, extending the scope even further.

Her unique Divinicorp role is naturally Attack Damage, adding to her own capabilities and strengthening the rest of your team. This makes her a great asset alongside an AD-based comp.

    Zed Cypher Slayer 4g

    TFT Set 14 Zed

    [Link to Champion Page]

Zed’s Cutthroat Business ability throws a shuriken at the farthest unmarked enemy, making Zed untargetable as he teleports towards them. Additional casts will also summon shadows by marked enemies that strike for physical damage against nearby foes. A combined AD boost from Cypher + Slayer makes Zed even more threatening, turning him into an assassin that can delete the enemy backline.
