TFT Set 14 Guide: How to Play Nitro

How to Play Nitro — TFT Set 14: Cyber City

Nitro is a stacking trait that can be powered up throughout the game which is a unique trait that we don’t see much in TFT. I am excited for this trait as it likely does best off of early two stars and higher tempo game play.

I am interested to see how it scales throughout the game. It will likely also be a reroll comp as the units are low cost and starring them up benefits your team.

Explore all of the new Set 14 traits here!

    How TFT Nitro Works

    TFT Nitro Trait

    Nitro Trait Bonus

Every round, Nitro champions grant Chrome to R-080T, based on their star level. Each Chrome grants 14 Health and 1 Ability Power. At 200 Chrome, it upgrades to T-43X!

    • (3) Summon R-080T!
    • (4) Fire a giant laser!

    Chrome per star: 2/3/5/7

    Nitro Synergy

Here are the additional traits of the Nitro champions that give the opportunity to create trait webs:

    • Kindred (1G) – Rapidfire + Marksman
    • Nidalee (1G) – A.M.P.
    • Shyvana (2G) – Bastion + Techie
    • Elise (3G) – Dynamo

    The Nitro Trait

Nitro is unique in that it is a stacking trait that can be stacked throughout the whole game. Each star level gives Chrome to the R-080T! While 4 Nitros allow for it to fire a laser. That means that there is more room for flexibility in this comp than others.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we were to see it played with DIvinicorp. I could also see Bastion and Techie being a trait that is played with it often due to Shyvana’s traits. We also can’t forget Dynaomos!

    TFT Nitro Champions

    Kindred (1G) – Rapidfire + Marksman

TFT Set 14 Kindred[Link to Champion Page]

Kindred has a lot of traits which allows them to link with a lot of units. Their ability fires a wolf at the current target dealing (AD) physical damage. Overkill damage bounces to the nearest enemy.
This last sentence is what makes Kindred a rerollable unit.

A lot of the time, a problem with units like this is that they unload their ability on a unit that is already low health and would die within an auto attack or two, but because the damge ins’t wasted due to the overkill damage this makes Kindred a strong contented as a rerollable unit in this trait as well as possibly Marksman and Rapidfire.

    Nidalee (1G) – A.M.P.

TFT Set 14 Nidalee[Link to Champion Page]

Nidalee deals (AP) magic damge to the current target and a percent to the nearest enemies. She then heals for based on the enemies hit. Her A.M.P. trait gives her ways to upgrade her abilities so this might make her a more viable AP carry to reroll with along with Kindred.

    Shyvana (2G) – Bastion + Techie

TFT Set 14 Shyvana[Link to Champion Page]

Shyvana has fantastic tags – Bastion and Techie. This gives her loads of utility. On her first cast: every second for the rest of combat she heals (AP & Health) health and deals 4 (AD) physical damage to the target. She gains (AP) ma health and damage amp.

    Elise (3G) – Dynamo

TFT Set 14 Elise[Link to Champion Page]

Elise is the final and highest cost Nitro unit and won’t likely get 3 starred in most situations unlikely her other Nitro buddies. Elise is a Dynamo which will likely make it so Dynamos are thrown into this comp to get the mana bonus for the team.

Her ability, Fire on All Cylinders, allows her to fire 4 lasers at the current target and 4 more split between the nearest 2 enemies each dealing (AP) magic damage and reducing Magic Resistance by 6 for the rest of combat. This inherent shred will also offer her additional utility and I expect to see her thrown on boards for this reason.
