TFT Set 14 Guide: How to Play Executioner

How to Play Executioner — TFT Set 14: Cyber City

Welcome to our trait guide, where we’ll be covering the Executioner trait in the new TFT Set 14: Cyber City. In this guide, we’ll explain how Executioner works, cover the different champions, and give a quick rundown of the other potential traits you could branch into.

Explore all of the new Set 14 traits here!

    How TFT Executioner Works

    Executioner Trait Bonus

    TFT Executioner Trait

    Champions: Graves 2g / Rengar 3g / Varus 3g / Vex 4g / Urgot 5g

Executioner Abilities can critically strike. They also gain bonus Critical Strike Chance and Critical Strike Damage. If the target’s Health is below 30%, the bonus Critical Strike Damage is doubled.

    • (2) 25% Crit, 8% CritMult
    • (3) 35% Crit, 15% CritMult
    • (4) 45% Crit, 20% CritMult
    • (5) 55% Crit, 25% CritMult; also gain 15% Durability

Executioners gain the ability to Crit with their abilities, increasing their overall damage potential. While there’s certainly luck involved, if you manage to land a Crit against an enemy below 30% Health, that Crit Damage is doubled. Activating this trait can make it easier to burst down weakened enemies, and the odds of success increase a pretty reasonable amount if you decide to lean vertically.

    Executioner Synergy

Here’s a rundown of the traits you can branch into from Executioner:

    • Graves – Golden Ox
    • Rengar – Street Demon
    • Varus – Exotech
    • Vex – Divinicorp
    • Urgot – BoomBots

Among the five Executioner units, there unfortunately isn’t any overlap between traits. However, having a direct 2/3/4/5 path means every additional Executioner will provide additional power, which could justify including more in your comp.

    TFT Executioner Champions

    Graves Golden Ox Executioner 2g

    TFT Set 14 Graves

Graves works differently than most units. Instead of auto-attacking a single target, each attack he fires a cone of projectiles. Additionally, his Buckshot of Midas ability is cast after every two attacks, letting him dash towards his target and blasting them with empowered shells.

This allows Graves to be extremely mobile, and when combined with Executioner, has a chance to Crit a wide spread of enemies.

    Rengar Street Demon Executioner 3g

    TFT Set 14 Rengar

    [Link to Champion Page]

Rengar is an assassin that leaps towards the lowest Health enemy within range, then strikes them twice with physical damage. Before each leap Rengar is healed, helping him refresh before ambushing the next target.

Each cast of this ability increases the leap range of future casts, helping Rengar close the gap against squishier backline enemies that may be too far out of reach. Rengar has the potential to be a real threat, especially if you decide to play him in a Signature hex from the Street Demon trait.

    Varus Exotech Executioner 3g

    TFT Set 14 Varus

    [Link to Champion Page]

Varus’ Malware Chain ability fires a chain at the target, dealing magic damage and Stunning them for one second. The three closest enemies are also linked by the chain, causing them to take damage (but not be Stunned). AoE magic damage with a single target Stun is pretty solid, and if you can take advantage of Exotech, Varus gets even better.

    Vex Divinicorp Executioner 4g

    TFT Set 14 Vex

    [Link to Champion Page]

Vex is an AP caster that inherently has passive Omnivamp, which is a pretty solid baseline. Additionally, whenever her Retribution ability would cause overhealing from the Omnivamp, part of that wasted Health is instead converted into bonus true damage against the target.

Retribution sends a shadow at the target, dealing magic damage to any enemies it passes through before it explodes. Then all enemies within the radius take even more damage. Where this really shines is the combination of Executioner with Divinicorp. The unique stat Vex provides to her team is Crit, increasing the likelihood of dealing Critical AoE magic damage with Retribution.

    Urgot BoomBots Executioner 5g

    TFT Set 14 Urgot

    [Link to Champion Page]

Urgot is an AD carry that will lock-on to his targets, seeking out the lowest Health enemies he can find within range. When a target has been acquired, he gains Attack Speed and fires three rockets (on top of any additional from BoomBots) at them until the duration wears off.

During this time, if the target falls below a certain percentage of Health, Urgot reels them in for execution and grinds them into parts. It’s no wonder this ability is called “Fear Beyond Death”.
