How to Play Chem-Baron — TFT Set 13: Into the Arcane

Welcome to our trait guide, where we’ll be covering the Chem-Baron trait in the new TFT Set 13: Into the Arcane. In this guide, we’ll explain how Chem-Baron works, cover the different champions, provide notable Augment choices, and cover some potential team comps.

Explore all of the new Set 13 traits here!

Chem-Baron is the cash out trait of this set. The player acquires shimmers through rounds as well as losses. At 100 Shimmer, the players gets a Black Market offer that can range from items, unique items, gold among other things. A player has the option of passing up the market to get additional max health.

This is a high risk high reward augment if you play for a full loss streak, but it also has the option of playing it for a short time and cashing out the first market for extra resources and getting out of the Chem-Baron trait altogether.

    How TFT Chem-Baron Works

    Chem-Baron Trait Bonus

    tft set 13 chem-baron

    Champions: Singed 1g / Renata Glasc 2g / Renni 3g / Smeech 3g / Silco 4g / Sevika 5g

Gain Shimmer after each player combat. If your loss streak is at least 3, gain more. At each stack of 100 Shimmer, the Black Market offers you contraband that only Chem-Barons can use. Chem-Barons gain max Health for each Black Market you pass on.

    • (3) 15 or 30; 20 Health
    • (4) 20 or 40; 50 Health
    • (5) 20 or 60; 90 Health
    • (6) 30 or 80; 125 Health
    • (7) 30 or 120; 180 Health

    Chem-Baron Synergy

Here are the additional traits of the Chem-Baron champions that give the opportunity to create trait webs:

    • Singed (1G) – Sentinel
    • Renata Glasc (2G) – Visionary
    • Renni (3G) – Bruiser
    • Smeech (3G) – Ambusher
    • Silco (4G) – Dominator
    • Sevika (5G) – High Roller + Pit Fighter

    The Chem-Baron Trait

Chem-Barons have step increments from 3 all the way up to 7 allowing you to accumulate shimmer through a pure vertical trait (7) or by splashing in few Chem-Barons on your board. This allows a good amount of flexibility and the ability to weave different traits into it.

    TFT Chem-Baron Champions

    Singed (1G) – Chem-Baron + Sentinel

    tft set 13 singed

Singed Gain durability based on your AP. Grant the ally who has dealt the most damage this round Attack Speed which decays. His Sentinel trait gives him additional tankiness to go with his durability. Singed has a supportive role along with his tank roll giving an attack speed steroid to a friendly unit – making him have better scaling in the late game than most 1 cost champions.

    Renata Glasc (2G) – Chem-Baron + Visionary

    tft set 13 renata glasc

    [Link to Champion Page]

Renata Glasc fires a pair of missiles at a target. Allies pass through gain (AP) shield for 3 seconds. When they collide, they deal (AP) magic damage to the target and (AP) magic damage to adjacent enemies. She likely feeds into the Visionary trait in the early game but later doesn’t use it as much as the Chem-Baron comp will likely look to play around higher cost units when it pushes levels after cashing out.

    Renni (3G) – Chem-Baron + Bruiser

    tft set 13 renni

    [Link to Champion Page]

Renni heals (AP) over 1.5 seconds and raises a target into the air, stunning them, and dealing 5 (AD) physical damage. Afterwards, slam them down, dealing 2 (AD) physical damage to adjacent enemies.
The Bruiser traits make it easy for her to be one of the main tanks in the Chem-Baron trait. She also offers crowd control which makes her valuable even in the late game.

    Smeech (3G) – Chem-Baron + Ambusher

    tft set 13 smeech

    [Link to Champion Page]

Smeech leaps toward the enemy with the fewest items within 4 hexes. He slashes 3 times dealing (AD) physical damage. If they die, he leaps again dealing less damage. This makes Smeech look to pick off lower value units allowing carries to pick off higher value units.

    Silco (4G) – Chem-Baron + Dominator

    tft set 13 silco

    [Link to Champion Page]

Silceo throws a canister at a target, dealing (AP) magic damage to them adn releasing monstrosities. The Monstrosities attack 5 times and deal (AP) magic damage per attack. Silco deals damage while also creating front line and being a 4 cost this makes him one of the strongest carries in the Chem-Baron trait. Early game Renata Glasc will likely carry AP carry items that will later be moved to Silco for him to carry.

    Sevika (5G) – Chem-Baron + High Roller + Pit Fighter

    tft set 13 sevika

    [Link to Champion Page]

Sevika staying true to Arcane pulls the slot machine in order to get 1 of 3 abilities: Flamethrower, Extendo-punch, or Chomp. She also has a small chance to hit a jackpot for a surprise! Being a melee fighter along with the Pit Fighter Trait this makes her a solid piece of the Chem-Baron trait.

    Best TFT Chem-Baron Augments

In general, Augments like Crest and Crown will always be good, but there are definitely more notable ones to explore and discover. As we make our way to the PBE, we’ll be sure to test a variety of combinations and update this article with what we find.

    TFT Chem-Baron Team Comps

The set has yet to even come out on PBE yet, and unfortunately, our team was unable to playtest the Set this time around. While we can’t recommend team comps at the moment, we’ll be sure to come back and update this article once we have a good feel for things.

Thanks for Reading! If you want to try and come up with your own team comps for Set 13, check out our Team Builder. For a full overview on the new set, check out our TFT Set 13 Reveal Page.
