How to Play Porcelain — TFT Set 11: Inkborn Fables
Welcome to our TFT trait guide series, where I’ll be covering the Porcelain trait and how to play it.
Porcelain is a new trait that grants a small Attack Speed buff and damage reduction. This buff only happens upon casting, so these champions want some mana generation as well.
I’ll be covering how Porcelain works, analyzing each champion, and go through some potential team comps.

How Porcelain Works
Porcelain Trait Bonus
After casting, Porcelain champions boil, gaining Attack Speed and taking less damage for 3 seconds.
- (2) 30 AS%; 20% reduced damage
- (4) 55 AS%; 33% reduced damage
- (6) 100 AS%; 55% reduced damage
Champions: Lux (2), Amumu (3), Ashe (4), Lissandra (5)
Every time Porcelain units cast, they will gain a temporary Attack Speed and damage reduction buff. While the Attack Speed buff falls off, you can take advantage of this burst with things like Guinsoo’s Rageblade.
The damage reduction buff also will help for any frontline or midline Porcelain units, giving them some extra survivability.
Porcelain Synergy
Here’s a list of the traits you can branch into from the Porcelain units:
- Arcanist (Lux/Lissandra)
- Warden (Amumu)
- Sniper (Ashe)
From the class traits, we can see that Lux and Lissandra share the Arcanist trait, making the trait point toward AP comps. However, Ashe is the 4-cost of the trait and scales with AD.
However, Porcelain only has 4 units, and with level 9 being more commonplace in the game, building a comp that itemizes both AP and AD carrys is easier. A lot of Porcelain’s best comps mix together different AP and AD units for a strong variety of damage.
Porcelain Champions
Let’s briefly go over each Champion in the Porcelain trait and what you can do with them. To check the updated stats and ability values, be sure to check each Champion Page.
Lux (2) — Porcelain + Arcanist

Lux is the first entry for the Porcelain trait. Her ability deals AoE damage and stuns, which usually isn’t a sign that she’ll be a main carry unit. Since her ability also stuns, the damage is likely lacking compared to other units.
As the first Porcelain unit, you likely pick up Lux to build toward a vertical Arcanist comp. You can pair her with Amumu for Porcelain (2), but that pair might not be as important as other Arcanist units.
Amumu (3) — Porcelain + Warden

Amumu is the only dedicated frontline for the Porcelain trait, making him a strong mid game unit for any Porcelain comp. Since he’s a Warden unit, you can fit him in regardless if you’re running an AP or AD comp.
His ability heals allies and damages enemies, making him a solid frontline unit for stalling out the fight. However, his heal can still be overpowered by burst damage, so you will want to have strong tank items to keep him alive and sustaining.
Ashe (4) — Porcelain + Sniper

Ashe is the only 4-cost unit for the Porcelain trait, so you can definitely build around Ashe as your carry. While she doesn’t synergize with the other AP units (Lux/Lissandra), you often will pair Ashe alongside another AP damage carry.
Ashe’s ability deals more damage the more times you’ve attacked in the fight, meaning you’ll likely want to stack Attack Speed and possible mana generation.
Building Guinsoo’s Rageblade and Spear of Shojin can be good, but that doesn’t leave too much room for damage scaling items. Even still, Ashe can utilize a large variety of items, making her an easy AD carry to itemize.
Lissandra (5) — Porcelain + Arcanist

Lissandra is the last unit for the Porcelain trait, and she pairs with Lux. With small traits like these, you usually don’t find overlapping classes, but the Arcanist trait is present twice.
Lissandra is also a loot generating unit, giving you more gold/items with her Ability. She also executes enemies if they are the last one standing. This is very powerful against comps that have a very powerful or tanky carry.
Finding a Lissandra early can be a very strong high roll if you find her early while playing an Arcanist comp. This lets you reach Arcanist (6) while dropping a low-cost unit and potentially generate more items.
Porcelain Best Augments
For this section, I’ll be covering some Augments that particularly synergize with the trait. Lots of Augments are universal, like economy based Augments or item Augments, but I’ll try to cover particular synergies to look out for.
The set has yet to come out on PBE yet, so I’ll only take a look at the trait specific Augments. I’ll definitely be back to add more as we learn more.

Porcelain Crest
Gain a Porcelain Emblem and a Lux.
Porcelain Crest is quite an interesting Augment for this trait. Porcelain (6) is only achievable with two Emblems, making it quite difficult to reach. However, the bonus Attack Speed and Damage Reduction scale very high at Porcelain (6).
The Emblem is also quite flexible as you can put it on frontline or backline units. Frontline units will benefit from the Damage Reduction more while backline units can utilize the Attack Speed buff.
Furthermore, Porcelain Crest can be a strong choice for Arcanist team comps as well. This way, you can reach Porcelain (4) without needing Ashe on the team. A unit like Illaoi with Porcelain Emblem can be very tanky with the damage reduction.
The inverse is also true if you’re running an Ashe carry. You can play Porcelain (4), putting the Emblem on another Sniper for Attack Speed while only needing to run either Lux/Lissandra for your 4th Porcelain.
Boiling Point
Porcelain units’ basic attacks restore 5 mana on hit. While boiling, basic attacks also Burn and Wound. Gain a Lux.
This Porcelain Augment could be a strong signal to play toward Ashe carry. Firstly, the Augment grants a Spear of Shojin like effect, allowing your Porcelain units to cast more frequently, gaining the Porcelain buff.
Furthermore, while boiling, they will also Burn and Wound enemies, making items like Morello/Red Buff unnecessary to build.
This Augment is quite strong in empowering Ashe as a carry, but it also gives mana generation to units like Lux and Lissandra as well. Amumu is probably the unit with the least impact from this Augment, but it’s still more than nothing.
Porcelain Team Comps
With the meta settled for the most part, here are some of the standout Porcelain comps.
As the player base plays more and more games, stronger meta comps will definitely rise up or old comps may be nerfed. Be sure to stay up to date on the current meta at our TFT Team Comp Tier List.
Porcelain Mythic Flex

This first comp combines the Porcelain trait with the Mythic trait. Kog’maw is the perfect overlap since he has the Invoker, Mythic, and Sniper trait.
This allows you to itemize Ashe and Lillia as your 4-cost carrys, with Lissandra and Azir as your late game 5-cost carrys. Invoker is also a trait that’s easily splashed into this comp, with Lillia and Kog’Maw already providing 2.
Overall, this comp is very potent in the end at level 9, and you can be quite strong at level 7/8 with Lillia or Ashe carrying your team through the late game.
Porcelain Fated Flex

This second comp is very similar to the comp above, except we flex into Fated instead of Mythic. Aphelios is the connective piece here, providing Sniper for Ashe and Fated for Sett/Syndra.
Like the above comp, you can itemize Syndra (Lillia replacement) as a secondary carry, or prioritize those items for Lissandra instead. This comp will hit its ceiling with a Sniper Emblem on Syndra. Without it, you can flex into different Fated comps or different Porcelain comps.
Porcelain Arcanist

This next comp is a simple Arcanist based comp with the Porcelain trait. Without tons of Emblems, you won’t be able to reach 8 Arcanist, but this comp is a solid option if you find yourself with a ton of Lux copies.
With the current meta, flexing towards other traits to add more carry units is stronger, but this is a solid go to if your luck isn’t great and need to put together something that works.
8 Arcanist

This last comp is an Arcanist 8 comp that flexes in Porcelain. If you have an Emblem or level 9, you can reach Porcelain 4. The main issue with this comp is that your frontline is weaker than others.
Unless you 3-star Amumu or Illaoi, your frontline will be underpowered compared to those with 4 or 5-cost units. Furthermore, to get enough carry units to itemize, you want to ideally hit Lux 3.
This makes this comp extremely difficult to compete at a high level. I would recommend playing the other Porcelain comps until some meta changes happen.
