TFT Jayce Overview
Jayce is the sixth shapeshifter in TFT, one of the four new Hextech champs, and fills a gap in the 2 cost units for that class.
His origin makes him a great fit in comps with other Hextech units, and his transformation can really help deal with high threat units until the team can kill them.
His base stats and ultimate make his damage respectable as well.
Ability: Mercury Cannon
This ability is very powerful. Jayce gains a burst of damage while knocking back and stunning a threatening opponent… think assassins.
He also doubles his HP if you have the shapeshifter buff. This can swing a match and make Jayce a worthy carry.
Recommended Items
NEVER BUILD RFC ON JAYCE. HE WILL NOT TRANSFORM UNLESS IN MELEE RANGE!
Jayce needs attack speed and damage if you are going to rely on him, so Rageblade and Titanic Hydra are great fits.
Statikk Shiv is never a bad idea for damage, and the mana helps him transform faster.
Phantom Dancer gives him that attack speed and survivability to ensure he can do his job for a better tomorrow!
Lifesteal never hurts and Jayce is an ideal carrier for Bloodthirster.

Recommended Team comps
Brawling Shapeshifters
This comp relies on having a lot of front line for your team along with wild and Hextech passives to gain a significant advantage. You can use another shapeshifter with Nidalee and Jayce until you replace them with Gnar later.
You have two choices for end game: place a Yuumi on Gnar, or level to 8 and put in Veigar for yordle and sorc bonus.

How to Position Jayce
Jayce is tough, but not as tough as some of the brawlers and knights. You want to place him just behind your front line so he can get into the action fast and transform without dying or getting silenced/frozen/mana burned.
Tips and Tricks
- Jayce is a great backline defender vs assassins due to how his ultimate works. With one defensive item, you can almost always ensure that he gets threats out of your backline, so position accordingly.
- Look out for six shapeshifters if you somehow get that chance. Shyvana, Swain, and Jayce are capable carries while Nidalee and Gnar aren’t slouches either…sorry Elise!
Early Impressions
Jayce might not be the strongest Hextech or shapeshifter around, but he’s definitely useful. Look for people to tech him in when they need the Hextech passive to disable stacked carries.
