TFT Guide: Set 11 Mechanic – Encounters

TFT New Mechanic for Set 11: Encounters

TFT Set 11: Inkborn Fables is releasing very soon, and the new set mechanic is “Encounters.” In the new set, you will encounter mythical champions or beasts from legend.

As these Encounters happen, the game will present exciting and wacky additions to the game. You can think of Encounters like Portals, except their effects can vary wildly and they occur randomly throughout the game.

    TFT Set 11 Encounter Lillia

In the past, Riot would let the community know the list of possibilities for things like Region Portals, Augments, etc. However, for Set 11, we won’t have access to the full list of Encounters right away.  You’ll need to jump in and experience for yourself all of the Encounters for yourself.

As PBE progresses, players will no doubt be recording the Encounters they stumble upon. We’ll be cataloguing these as we learn/experience more. If you want to know the possibilities, you can check out our Encounters Database.

With all that being said, let’s explain how exactly Encounters work, and what you can expect.

    How Encounters Work

    TFT Set 11 Encounter Menu

Encounters provide unique effects to your game and will happen randomly throughout the game anywhere from 2-5 times. This adds to the random effect, as you won’t know how many Encounters you’re going to find in each game. These Encounters can happen just about anytime throughout the game.

They may appear on your board before a PvP Round, during the Carousel, or they might even transport you to a Carousel not during a Carousel Round.

    Kayn’s Inescapable Doom

    TFT Set 11 Encounter Kayn

Kayn will appear at the start of the game and do nothing… at first. He will return at Round 5-4 and kill players one by one starting with the lowest Health.

These Encounters provide a variety of effects, giving you gifts, presenting a gamble, randomizing game mechanics, etc. There’s a large variety of potential effects, and you can have a blast experiencing these for yourself.

To get an idea of what’s possible, let’s display some of the Encounters we know about.

    TFT Set 11 Encounter List

As PBE progresses, we’ll be able to learn more about Encounters, but here’s a quick list of some we know already. Be sure to check our Encounters Database for an updated list.

    In Conclusion

This wraps up our quick guide on how the new Set 11 mechanic, Encounters, works. As the PBE releases, players will definitely have a blast exploring the new set and going through the Encounters blindly.

To add on, Encounters are not like Headliners or Region Portals where you can follow a game plan. Encounters are very random by nature and provide a wild variety of effects.

Because of this, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to play every game perfectly. Sometimes, an Encounter might throw a wrench in your plans. Other times, it may help you get back into a game you might’ve lost.

Whatever the case may be, Encounters will spice up every game you play, adding to the replay value of Set 11.
