Marvel Snap: Supergiant Best Decks and Synergies

    How to Play Supergiant

Welcome to another installment in our series where we cover new card releases and how to use them. I’ll be covering new deck ideas in this article, but to stay up to date, check out our Full Tier List to see any new meta changes.

Supergiant is the first Spotlight Cache release for the month of February, and her effect is quite puzzling to analyze.

She can be a very polarizing card, with the potential to shape the meta or be a niche combo card.

Let’s get right into the guide.

    Supergiant Effect

    Marvel Snap Supergiant

On Reveal: All cards played next turn don’t reveal until the game ends.

    Supergiant Analysis

To start, let’s talk about Supergiant’s stats. 5 Power for 4 Energy is definitely on the low side. For reference, Enchantress is the same stat line, and Enchantress can sometimes win games by herself. Ms. Marvel is a 4/4, but her effect raises her to a 4/14.

Supergiant has a weird effect that makes her in between a tech card and a combo card. She can be played in many ways, and her flexibility is a strong selling point.

Against certain decks, Supergiant can be very powerful. If you play her on turn 4, you can prevent your opponent from playing things like Leech or Sera on turn 5. You’ll be able to hide information from your opponent, but they will also be able to do the same.

    Cards that Synergize with Supergiant

    Alioth

    Marvel Snap Alioth

On Reveal: Destroy all unrevealed enemy cards here.

The first big synergy with Supergiant is Alioth. Alioth will destroy all enemy unrevealed cards, which can be an extremely strong turn 6 play if you have priority.

Supergiant makes it so your opponent will always have an unrevealed card (unless they skip turn 5).

Leveraging this fact, you can get a ton of value from Alioth on turn 6. You can try to win a lane on the side with a card like Storm, lead into Supergiant, and win a second location with Alioth.

However, if the opponent is also running Alioth, they have the same benefit as you, so that can get interesting.

    Hit-Monkey

    Marvel Snap Hit-Monkey 3-2

On Reveal: Gain +2 Power for each other card you played this turn.

Hit-Monkey is another great card that you can play unrevealed. By playing him on turn 5, you give yourself all 6 Energy on the final turn to play cards to buff him up.

While I put Hit-Monkey as an example, there are a ton of cards that you might want to play unrevealed. Tech cards like Shang-Chi, Enchantress, Shadow King, etc are all great to play unrevealed to hide information from your opponent.

There are even other effects you can hide like Annihilus or high power cards you don’t want to be hit by Shang-Chi.

    Attuma

    Marvel Snap Attuma

After each turn, destroy this if you have another card here.

One last synergy I want to mention are cards like Attuma with “end of turn” effects. Attuma will trigger after the turn, but Supergiant unrevealed cards happens after the game ends.

This means that you can play Attuma as unrevealed in a location with other cards. At the end of the game, Attuma won’t be destroyed as his end of turn effect has already passed.

This isn’t a particularly powerful synergy as playing Supergiant on 4 and Attuma on 5 isn’t a great way to win games, but this type of effect is still worth mentioning. I’m sure there are other cards with similar effects that can be used this way as well.

    Supergiant Decks

For this section, I’ll be mainly going over some decks that synergize with Supergiant.

Keep in mind that these decks are all first impressions, so things can definitely change rapidly. As new discoveries are made, I will be updating our Full Tier List, rather than update this article.

Be sure to check it out to see what the best decks are.

    Supergiant Control Deck

    Marvel Snap Control Supergiant Deck

This first deck is the deck that I think Supergiant will slot in easiest. The Control archetype has been a solid deck for a good bit now. Not all versions look exactly the same, but runs the same basic gameplan.

Nebula and Storm can shut down the left or right location. Medusa helps you gain priority with a strong 2/5 in the middle. Ms. Marvel outputs a ton of points on the board with 14 Power. Lastly, you can finish the game with Alioth, Doctor Doom, or Shang-Chi + Grand Master.

Supergiant is replacing Iron Lad in this list, and you can argue she synergizes better with the deck. While Iron Lad is a very strong play, Supergiant can synergize with Alioth better.

There likely can be more changes made to the deck to better suit Supergiant and the playstyle, but overall, I find this archetype the best fit for her.

    Supergiant Hit-Monkey Deck

    Marvel Snap Supergiant Hit-Monkey Deck

This next deck takes Supergiant and brings back the old Bounce shell with Hit-Monkey. Current Bounce decks usually utilize Sentry and Annihilus, but this list uses Hit-Monkey to make use of Supergiant.

With Hit-Monkey unrevealed, you have a lot of room to play just about every card in your hand on the final turn. Beast can bring back your cards to replay on the final turn, buffing up Hit-Monkey to very big numbers.

You can also play an additional card with Hit-Monkey unrevealed to hide information from your opponent as to where Hit-Monkey is.

I can’t say if this deck is better or worse than the current Bounce lists. It’s simply different and new.

    Supergiant Counters

Here are some quick counters to Supergiant:

    • Alioth
      • Alioth is funny because he is both a synergistic card and a counter to Supergiant.
    • Cosmo
      • As with any On Reveal card, Supergiant can be stopped by Cosmo in the same location.

There aren’t very many hard counters to Supergiant, making her effect very unique. In general, she simply makes the game riskier by having more incomplete information to assess for both players.

    Should You Buy Supergiant?

    Overall, I would rate Supergiant a 7/10.

Overall, I don’t expect Supergiant to take over the meta, but on release, you’ll definitely be seeing her in many of your games. I think she has a great home in Control decks (without Sera), and there’s definitely more combo potential with cards like Hit-Monkey.

Considering the other cards in the Spotlight Cache (Darkhawk and Zabu), I think this Spotlight Cache might be one of the best ones we’ve had so far.

Hope this guide helped you out a bit, good luck in your games, and snap away!
