How to Play Blob in Marvel Snap
Blob is the first Spotlight Cache release for December, and he’s bringing another unique effect to the game.
It’s hard to determine where Blob will find a home in the meta, but there are some interesting synergies to tinker around with.
Let’s get right into the guide.
Blob Effect
On Reveal: Merge your deck into this. (and gain its total Power) Ongoing: Can’t be moved.
Blob Analysis
On the surface, Blob can essentially become another “Hulk” like unit. By combining with the rest of your deck (usually 3 cards) you can reach very high Power. While he can definitely grow larger than the Hulk, that shouldn’t be a huge reason to run him.
Ongoing: +2 Power for each card in your opponent’s deck.
One thing to note is that if you’re playing against Darkhawk, Blob will combine with the rest of your deck, turning Darkhawk into a 0 Power card.
This counter to Darkhawk is the main factor that’s noticeable with Blob. It can be part of your game plan while also countering Darkhawk even more.
Blob Synergies
Let’s cover some cards that will work well with Blob.
Hela
On Reveal: Resurrect all cards you discarded to random locations.
Hela decks use a variety of strong 6-cost cards to revive with her effect. Blob can be used in the same way. On the off chance you don’t draw enough Power cards, Blob can help you reach just a bit more Power if he revives. It’s not a huge buff, but it can be nice to have.
Furthermore, if you’re playing Lockjaw Hela, it’s possible you can win one lane with Lockjaw, and secure a second lane on turn 6 with Blob.
Okoye
On Reveal: Give every card in your deck +1 Power.
Okoye is another card that can be interesting with Blob. Okoye will buff all the cards in your deck by +1 Power. In a normal game, this means your Blob will have 3 extra Power from the buffed cards.
Because of this synergy, it’s possible that a deck can look to play more aggressively with Blob. You can look to secure a lane with lower cost cards, and hopefully win a second location with Blob on turn 6.
However, putting lower cost cards also reduces the potential Power of Blob, making it a difficult deck building situation.
Wave
On Reveal: All cards cost a maximum of 4 until the end of next turn.
Wave can also be a potential synergy piece with Blob. With Wave, you can cheat out Blob on turn 4 or 5, potentially playing into a Taskmaster or something to that effect.
However, this is essentially playing a Shuri type combo, but with more moving parts.
Blob Decks
For this section, I’ll be mainly going over some decks that synergize with Blob.
Keep in mind that these decks are all first impressions, so things can definitely change rapidly. As new discoveries are made, I will be updating our Full Tier List, rather than update this article.

Blob Hela Deck

This first deck is a simple deck that uses Blob as a high power card in Hela. It’s basically an alternative to Iron Man and Onslaught in the combo deck. I doubt this version is better than Lockjaw Hela or Iron Man/Onslaught Hela, but it’s something to try.
It’s possible the deck can evolve further by running cards like Lady Sif + Ghost Rider or other things.
Thanos Blob Deck

This deck looks to use Thanos to take advantage of Blob. While the deck doesn’t focus on high Power cards, Blob can potentially still be a large finisher. It’s not uncommon for Thanos decks to end the game with 5 ish cards left in deck. Even if you play all 6 Stones, you’ll end up drawing 5 cards, leaving the deck with 4 cards.
Blob won’t reach super high Power, but he can be big enough to win a lane. Be sure to track what’s left in your deck to calculate how big Blob will be.
Blob Counters
Shadow King/Shang-Chi/Cosmo
As with many big Power cards, Blob is vulnerable to Shang-Chi and Shadow King. However, if you play him on turn 6, he’s less likely to be countered by these cards.
Furthermore, Cosmo can also stop Blob. Since his effect is On Reveal, if a Cosmo stops him, he’ll simply become a 6/4 Colossus.
Conclusion
Overall, Blob is an interesting addition the game, but it’s not clear how he can fit into the meta. He’s a big finisher card, but the game already has a lot of those.
It’s possible that Blob becomes a anti meta card to counter Darkhawk, but that’s a very niche scenario. In the end, he can be a fun card to use, but it’s likely most players will save their caches for future releases.
