Turbo Mill Maokai Meme Deck
Hey everyone, Silverfuse here with a turbo mill deck that features Maokai. Previously, I featured the Aloof Mill deck with Harrowing.
Now, it’s time for another way to fully mill your opponent!
This time with Maokai’s level-up ability which leaves 4 non-champion cards in a deck plus Most Wanted which makes your opponent draw 3 cards.
There are a couple of ways to build this deck such as creature creation or more Toss-heavy decks.
Mine is a mix of creature creation and Toss cards.

Goal of the Deck:
The deck uses mostly Shadow Isles cards which include Toss and healing cards to stay healthy but also work toward your win condition of leveling up Maokai. In order to level up Maokai, you must have units die or cards Tossed 25 times before he can level up.
Once he does, he destroys all but 4 non-champion cards which you can then mill your opponent by forcing them to draw with Most Wanted twice or Most Wanted and another drawcard such as Veteran Investigator.
This will cause your opponent to draw all of their cards and lose due to having no cards left to play!
Combo Set-Up:
You have plenty of small units to chump block your opponent’s attacks all day while working toward your win condition. If things get too out of hand, then you also have the option of using Ruination to clear the board as well.
In the early game, you will want to protect your health as best as you can through your early game units as well as Tossing cards too. You will also be looking for Sea Scarab which will accelerate your mill win condition. This is one of the most important cards in the deck for this reason and what really makes the turbo mill happen.
Ideally, you want to play Maokai safely as soon as possible so that you can Toss two additional cards each turn while creating an extra blocker for yourself.
You will also be wanting to find at least one Most Wanted or Officer Squad. It can be pretty easy to accidentally Toss all of your end-game conditions. This is where Time Trick comes into play. Time Trick can help you find Maokai, as well as, Most Wanted to make your combo be a bit more smooth.
Sometimes Maokai can win a game just by leveling and not playing Most Wanted, but that does make the game significantly harder to finish especially if your opponent happens to have two copies of a champion where they can shuffle a champion back into their deck.
This deck basically comes down to staying alive in the early game and working toward your Maokai and card draw win condition as most combo decks tend to do. You don’t have to worry about what your opponent is doing too much besides staying alive and trying your best to get Maokai into play safely.

Mulligan
Against control decks
You will want to hold onto your combo pieces and Maokai more as you are looking to turbo-level him.
You can also look for Sea Scarab although it is more likely that it gets removed by control decks.
Generally, you are not afraid of control decks beating you down, so you can be a bit more greedy in the mulligan to make sure that you have your win condition set.
Against aggressive decks
You will want to keep your early chump blocking units and cards such as Vile Feast that can heal and help with the early game.
This deck is very straightforward for mulligans as long as you know if your opponent has the ability to go aggressive against you and beat you down or not.
You will always want Sea Scarab as it advances your win condition so well.
Against aggro
You would only keep Deadbloom Wanderer. Against midrange, you can keep the Maokai as well.
Against control, you would keep the Maokai only as you’d want to find your Most Wanted and more small units to help Maokai Toss quicker.
However, keeping the Deadbloom with Maokai could also be fine. If you see Sea Scarab, you keep that in every match-up.
Matchups
Against aggressive decks, you have plenty of control tools and you can usually just chump block them to death. These are some of your better matchups.
Against midrange decks, they can often go over the top as you run out of chump blockers to deal with their units. Your best hope is for a solid Ruination to get you back into the game.
Against control decks, if Maokai sticks then you are golden as you can mill them incredibly fast without having to worry about your own health as much.
However, it can become quite slow if they remove Maokai. However, I often found success against Darkness decks even when they removed my Maokai.
Tech Choices
Withering Wail: Anti wide aggro tool.
Vengeance: For bigger units.
Piercing Darkness: To heal and remove a unit.
Mystic shot: More early game removal for cards such as Draven.
Haunted Relic: To use as blockers but also a way to turbo level Maokai faster.
Insider Knowledge: For more mill!
Wings and the Wave: For more early game presence and kill targets.
Closing Thoughts
This is another fun, mill deck that I wouldn’t recommend for the ladder but of course, you can do whatever you feel like!
I have personally enjoyed milling my opponents with the help of Shadow Isles cards where I feel like it is fun, but not too toxic.
