Herta: Guide, Skills, Builds, Teams & More

Herta is a Standard 4 Star Erudition Character that was available since the game’s launch. Famed for her fun AoE follow-up attack gimmick that was originally useful for farming Calyxes, Herta has managed to stay relevant throughout the game by being a very solid Pure Fiction character despite her simplistic kit.

Herta HSR Kit Overview (Trace Level 10)

Herta’s most iconic part of her kit is her Talent – Fine, I’ll Do It Myself. Whenever an ally lowers an enemy’s HP below the 50% threshold, she will immediately launch a follow-up attack. If an ally’s attack causes an enemy’s HP percentage to fall to 50% or lower, Herta will launch a Follow-Up ATK, dealing Ice DMG equal to 40% of Herta’s ATK to all enemies. This effect can stack if multiple enemies get their HP lowered at the same time. For example, if 4 enemies get lowered to below 50% HP at the same time, Herta will attack 4 times.

This is exceptional in two specific contexts that players often encounter: Farming Calyxes and Pure Fiction. Both of these situations are filled to the brim with medium to low HP that are easy to get lowered below 50% HP, resulting in very frequent AoE attacks.

The remaining parts of Herta’s kit are quite unimpressive, courtesy of being a launch 4-star character. Her Skill – One-Time Offer is a vanilla AoE attack that deals extra damage to enemies when they are above 50% HP threshold. Her Ultimate – It’s Magic, I Added Some Magic, is another AoE attack with no additional effects.

Herta’s traces and technique follow the same trend of being very simple and straightforward. Her Technique is a 40% Attack boost for 3 turns upon entering battle. Her first major trace – Efficiency – further increases the damage boost from her Skill by an extra 25%. Her second trace – Puppet – grants her a 35% chance to avoid Crowd Control effects. Last but not least, Icing increases her damage against enemies that are already Frozen by 20%.

Herta has managed to stay relevant consistently throughout the years after Pure Fiction became one of the main endgame modes, thanks to her synergy with AoE characters. Thanks to her Talent, Herta is a highly effective sub-DPS in heavy AoE content when paired with units that benefit from frequent AoE attacks, namely The Herta and Tribbie, two of the best AoE characters in the game. This core can tackle most AoE fights in the game competently.

They can even function as a main Damage, like most Crit-based Damage Dealers, with several amplifiers bolstering her damage output, or with other AoE Sub Damage Dealers like Jade. Beyond that, Herta does not offer much else, but for how cheap her resource investments are for her return, one can hardly complain.

    Herta HSR Core Skills

Basic Attack - What Are You Looking At

Basic Attack – What Are You Looking At?: Deals Ice DMG equal to 100% of Herta’s ATK to one designated enemy target.

    Skill - One-Time Offer

Skill – One-Time Offer: Deals Ice DMG equal to 100% of Herta’s ATK to all enemies. If the enemy’s HP percentage is 50% or higher, DMG dealt to this target increases by 20%.

Ultimate - It's Magic, I Added Some Magic

Ultimate – It’s Magic, I Added Some Magic: Deals Ice DMG equal to 200% of Herta’s ATK to all enemies.

Talent - Fine, I'll Do It Myself

Talent – Fine, I’ll Do It Myself: When an ally’s attack causes an enemy’s HP percentage to fall to 50% or lower, Herta will launch a Follow-Up ATK, dealing Ice DMG equal to 40% of Herta’s ATK to all enemies.

Technique - It Can Still Be Optimized

Technique – It Can Still Be Optimized: After using her Technique, Herta’s ATK increases by 40% for 3 turn(s) at the beginning of the next battle.

    Herta HSR Traces

    Efficiency

Efficiency: When Skill is used, the DMG Boost effect on target enemies increases by an extra 25%.

    Puppet

Puppet: Increases the chance to resist Crowd Control debuffs by 35%.

    Icing

Icing: When Ultimate is used, deals 20% more DMG to Frozen enemies.

    Herta HSR Eidolons

    Herta HSR Eidolons

    1. Kick You When You’re Down: When using Basic ATK, if the designated enemy’s HP percentage is at 50% or less, additionally deals Ice Additional DMG equal to 40% of Herta’s ATK.
    2. Keep the Ball Rolling: Every time Talent is triggered, this character’s CRIT Rate increases by 3%. This effect can stack up to 5 time(s).
    3. That’s the Kind of Girl I Am: Skill Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Basic ATK Lv. +1, up to a maximum of Lv. 10.
    4. Hit Where It Hurts: When Talent is triggered, DMG increases by 10%.
    5. Cuss Big or Cuss Nothing: Ultimate Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Talent Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15.
    6. No One Can Betray Me: After using Ultimate, this character’s ATK increases by 25% for 1 turn(s).

    Eidolon Priority

As a 4-Star unit, Herta’s Eidolons are generally obtained via off-banner pulls, or players can buy some of her copies from the shop when she is in rotation. All of her Eidolons are quite mediocre, so there is really no need to spend any resources to chase any of her Eidolons.

Her E1 boosts her Basic Attack a bit, letting her deal an additional damage instance to enemies at 50% HP or less.

Her E2 is quite useful in lengthy AoE battles where she can trigger her Talent a lot (which is practically the situation she was made for already), she gets a 3% Crit Rate, capped at 15%.

Her E4 increases her Talent’s damage by 10%, and is her most relevant Eidolon, as her Talent is the singular most important part of her kit.

Her E6 increases her Attack for 25% for 1 turn upon using her Ultimate, a neat but hardly substantial bonus.

    Premium Options

Yet Hope Is Priceless: Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 16% / 19% / 22% / 25% / 28%. While the wearer is in battle, for every 20% CRIT DMG that exceeds 120%, the DMG dealt by Follow-Up ATK increases by 12% / 14% / 16% / 18% / 20%. This effect can stack up to 4 time(s). When the battle starts or after the wearer uses their Basic ATK, enables the DMG dealt by Ultimate or Follow-Up ATK to ignore 20% / 24% / 28% / 32% / 36% of the target’s DEF, lasting for 2 turn(s).

Of the limited 5-star options, Jade’s Signature Light Cone provides the most amount of buffs to Herta with almost no limitations, with a total of 16% Crit Rate, up to 48% Follow-up Attack Damage, and 20% Def Ignore on Follow-up Attacks.

    The Birth of the Self

The Birth of the Self: Increases DMG dealt by the wearer’s Follow-Up ATKs by 24% / 30% / 36% / 42% / 48%. If the current HP percentage of the target enemy is below or equal to 50%, increases DMG dealt by Follow-Up ATKs by an extra 24% / 30% / 36% / 42% / 48%.

This Light Cone’s effect is very simple, but effective with Herta’s kit. Since it has been available since launch, players can get it at decent Super Imposition level easily.

    Geniuses’ Repose

    Geniuses’ Repose: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32%. When the wearer defeats an enemy, the wearer’s CRIT DMG increases by 24% / 30% / 36% / 42% / 48% for 3 turn(s).

Similar to The Birth of The Self, Geniuses’ Repose’s bonuses are also quite easily achievable for Herta, especially in contents like Pure Fictions where there are a lot of enemies that she can defeat.

    F2P Options

    The Seriousness of Breakfast

    The Seriousness of Breakfast: Increases the wearer’s DMG by 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24%. For every enemy defeated by the wearer, the wearer’s ATK increases by 4% / 5% / 6% / 7% / 8%, stacking up to 3 time(s).

This is the best F2P option for Herta, courtesy of its easy to attain bonus and accessibility from the Memory of Chaos shop.

    HSR Herta Main Stats

    • Body: Crit Damage% / Crit Rate%
    • Feet: Attack%
    • Orb: Ice Damage% / Attack%
    • Rope: Attack%

Herta is a very straightforward character to build. As a Crit-based Damage Dealers, she wants Crit Rate / Crit Damage on her Body, whichever helps she get a better Crit ratio more. For Boot, Rope and Orb, she will want as many damage boosting stats as possible, as most of her damage are out of turns, so Attack% and Ice Damage% are what players should be looking for for main stats.

    HSR Herta Sub Stats

    • Crit Damage%
    • Crit Rate%
    • Attack%

Similar to her main stats option, Herta should aim primarily for Crit Rate% / Crit Damage% and Attack% for her substats to maximize her damage output.

    HSR Herta Relics

    Option A

    The Ashblazing Grand Duke

    The Ashblazing Grand Duke

    • 2-Pc: Increases the DMG dealt by Follow-Up ATK by 20%.
    • 4-Pc: When the wearer uses a Follow-Up ATK, increases the wearer’s ATK by 6% for every time the Follow-Up ATK deals DMG. This effect can stack up to 8 time(s) and lasts for 3 turn(s). This effect is removed the next time the wearer uses a Follow-Up ATK.

While Herta does not make use of this set 4-Pc bonus well enough, its 2-Pc bonus effect is quite strong so it is still a worthwhile option.

    Option B

    Hunter of Glacial Forest

    Hunter of Glacial Forest

    • 2-Pc: Increases Ice DMG by 10%.
    • 4-Pc: After the wearer uses their Ultimate, their CRIT DMG increases by 25% for 2 turn(s).

Many players will get a lot of pieces of this set from farming the Eagle set, and Herta can make use of both of its effects.

    Option C

    herta 2+2 pieces

    2+2 Pieces

Herta can also run a combination of 2+2 set with good offensive bonus since there is no current set in the game that is tailor made for her.

    HSR Herta Planar Sets

    Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves

    • 2-Pc: When an ally uses a Follow-Up ATK, the wearer gains 1 stack of Merit, stacking up to 5 time(s). Each stack of Merit increases the DMG dealt by the wearer’s Follow-Up ATKs by 5%. When there are 5 stacks, additionally increases the wearer’s CRIT DMG by 25%.

Herta can stack Duran’s bonus very easily in AoE content, especially when paired with units like Tribbie, Jade, or Himeko. Duran gives her the most amount of offensive stats boost, so she should be the number one choice in most circumstances.

    Inert Salsotto

    Inert Salsotto

    • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s current CRIT Rate reaches 50% or higher, the DMG dealt by the wearer’s Ultimate and Follow-Up ATK increases by 15%.

Another generic but useful option that many players farm is Inert Salsotto. Most of Herta’s damage comes from her follow-up attack and Ultimate, which Salsotto boosts.

    Sigonia, the Unclaimed Desolation

    Sigonia, the Unclaimed Desolation

    • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 4%. When an enemy target gets defeated, the wearer’s CRIT DMG increases by 4%, stacking up to 10 time(s)%.

Sigonia is a purely Pure Fiction set, with ramping up Crit Damage as more enemies are defeated. This set loses a lot of value when fighting enemies that favor AoE characters but with a linked HP bar, such as Banananan Officer.

Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm

Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm

    • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 12%. When entering battle, if at least one teammate follows the same Path as the wearer, then the wearer’s CRIT Rate increases by 12%.

As Herta is often paired with The Herta, Jade or Tribbie, she can easily make use of this set for the massive Crit Rate it provides.

    HSR Herta Teammates

Herta can be used as both a Sub-DPS and Main DPS, but most of the time she will be paired with another AoE Damage Dealer.

    Main DPS

    the-herta

The Herta: The Herta is easily the best partner for Herta, due to them both having synergistic components with each other. The Herta benefits from characters with frequent AoE attacks to charge her Ultimate as well as generating Inspiration stacks. Meanwhile, The Herta also provides strong teamwide buffs to Erudition characters, which alleviates a lot of Herta’s firepower issue.

    himeko

Himeko: Himeko – Herta was a strong combination at the dawn of Pure Fiction release, thanks to both of them having very frequent AoE follow-up attacks.

    argenti

Argenti: Argenti is another strong Pure Fiction Main Damage Dealer that Herta can support, although Argenti often functions better with more amplifiers.

    Amplifier / Sub-DPS

    tribbie

Tribbie: Tribbie is the best teamwide amplifiers for AoE options and Herta benefit massively from her buffs. Herta’s frequent AoE attacks also help Tribbie charge her Ultimate faster.

    jade

Jade: Jade is the best AoE Sub Damage Dealer for Pure Fiction, and can amplify Herta’s damage into the main Damage Dealer status when used together.

    Robin, Ruan Mei

Robin / Ruan Mei: These units are other strong teamwide buffers that benefit Sub Damage Dealer like Herta.

    Sustain

Hyacine: Hyacine has very strong AoE attacks and great synergy with other AoE characters like The Herta or Tribbie, making her a natural options for team with Herta.

    HSR Herta Teams

    Notable Herta Teams:

    Herta Teams

    HSR Herta Value and Conclusion

In terms of gameplay, Herta is a very limited unit and only serves one function, but she does that function very well, especially for how cheap it is to build her up. Most players should consider raising Herta as she will more likely prove to be useful in Pure Fiction, especially if they lack strong Limited AoE characters to handle this mode.
