Empires of the Ascended LoR Card Impressions: Sivir (Reputation, Lucky Find, and More)

Day 10 of Empires of the Ascended (Sivir’s Reveal)

Hey everyone, Precipic here with the tenth day of breakdowns for the revealed Shrima expansion cards.

Every morning (around 9AM PST), head to Mobalytics to see the cards revealed live.

The main feature of this package was Sivir, along with a new mechanic, Reputation.

In this article, we’ll cover what every card does and analyze their viability based on the known cards at the time of publishing.

Here are the new cards from Sivir’s reveal package:

    • Sivir (champion levels 1-2)
    • Ricochet/Sivir’s Ricochet (spell and Sivir’s champion spell)
    • Boomerange Blade (spell)
    • Payday (spell)
    • Inner Sanctum (landmark)
    • Waking Sands (spell)
    • Sandswept Tomb (landmark)
    • Sandstone Charger (follower)
    • Callous Bonecrusher (follower)
    • Ruin Runner (follower

If you missed out on previous cards, check out the rest of the card reveals.

For more impressions and insights on the new cards, check out Swim’s video!

    Sivir

    Sivir level 1 (LoR reveal)

    Sivir level 2 (LoR reveal)

    • Sivir Level 1
      • 4 mana 5|3, Quick Attack, Spellshield
      • Level Up: You’ve dealt 35+ damage
    • Sivir Level 2
      • 4 mana 6|4, Quick Attack, Spellshield
      • Text: When I’m attacking, attacking allies have my keywords.

Sivir’s base statline on this card seems very good to start with. Quick attack Spellshield makes it very hard to block this effectively.

She levels up very quickly in a deck full of high attack units like Trifarian Gloryseeker or Renekton. When leveled, she becomes genuinely absurd, giving your entire team Spellshield and Quick Attack on attacks is super obnoxious, and if you have some way of also giving Sivir a keyword like overwhelm she can just end the game.

She also works incredibly well with Kato the Arm because both giving Sivir Overwhelm and additional attack can push through a ton of damage and it works perfectly with her level up because she then gives Kato overwhelm and Quick attack as well.

This card also works super well with Judgement, so we may see her with Demacia as well.

The last thing that’s important to note is that Sivir can level up during combat.

    Ricochet/Sivir’s Ricochet

Ricochet (LoR reveal)Sivir's Ricochet (LoR reveal)

    • Ricochet/Sivir’s Ricochet
      • 6 mana Slow spell
      • Text: Reputation: I cost 3. Deal 1 to a random enemy or the enemy Nexus 5 times.
      • Sivir’s Ricochet text: Create a Sivir in your deck.

Ricoshet is pretty strong if you can ensure you have Reputation enabled.

Reputation activates if your allies have dealt 5+ damage at least 4 times in a game.

Three mana deal 5 is a pretty efficient amount of damage to mana cost.

The big thing to keep in mind is that this works with Kegs so with a card like Gangplank it can become a 3 mana deal 10.

    Boomerang Blade

    Boomerang Blade (LoR reveal)

    • Boomerang Blade
      • 7 mana Slow spell
      • Text: An ally strikes the Strongest and Weakest enemies.

Boomerang Blade seems quite bad to me. It’s super slow and forces you to use it proactively in a way that can get blown out very easily.

It’s also way too expensive for what it does at 7 mana.

    Payday + Lucky Find

Payday (LoR reveal)Lucky Find (LoR reveal)

    • Payday
      • 2 Mana Focus spell
      • Text: Create a Lucky Find in hand.
    • Lucky Find
      • 0 Mana Focus spell, Fleeting
      • Text: Pick a buff from among 3 to grant an ally.

Payday seems pretty sweet in any sort of proactive Shurima deck focused on attacking opponents.

Here are the Lucky Find buffs you can choose from:

    • Spellshield
    • Challenger
    • Fearsome
    • +2|+0
    • +1|+1
    • Quick Attack
    • +0|+2
    • Tough
    • Overwhelm

All of the buff effects are great at making cards like Ruin Runner and Sivir a lot stronger.

Note that the buffs are also at Focus, aka Gem speed.

    Inner Sanctum

    Inner Sanctum (LoR reveal)

    • Inner Sanctum
      • 3 mana landmark
      • Text: Reputation: I cost 9. Countdown 1: Create 2 Lucky Finds in hand.

This landmark seems like a pretty sweet payoff for a Reputation deck.

All of the buff effects are great at making high-attack units like Ruin Runner and Sivir a lot stronger.

    Waking Sands

    Waking Sands (LoR reveal)

    Sandstone Charger (LoR reveal)

    • Waking Sands
      • 2 mana Slow spell
      • Text: Summon a Sandstone Charger
    • Sandstone Charger
      • 2 mana 5|2, Ephemeral

Waking Sands seems very bad to me as 2 mana to summon a 5/2 Ephemeral is basically never worth it, outside of potentially triggering Reputation.

The impact that a 5/2 Ephemeral has is very low because it’s pretty easy to block it with a very low cost.

    Sandswept Tomb

    Sandswept Tomb (LoR reveal)

    • Sandswept Tomb
      • 5 mana landmark
      • Text: When allies attack, summon an attacking Sandstone Charger

Sandswept Tomb does very little for the mana cost.

It’s comparable to Shark Chariot but takes up a board slot and costs 3 more mana.

    Callous Bonecrusher

    Callous Bonecrusher (LoR reveal)

    • Callous Bonecrusher
      • 4 mana 6|3
      • Text: Reputation: I cost 2.

The earliest Callous Bonecrusher comes online is something like turn 7 and a 2 mana 6/3 on turn 7 is not worth including in your deck.

Compare it to something like Trifarian Hopeful.

    Ruin Runner

    Ruin Runner (LoR reveal)

    • Ruin Runner
      • 5 mana 6|4, Overwhelm, Spellshield

Ruin Runner seems like a staple Shurima beatdown card. For 5 mana you are getting a threat that is incredibly hard to interact with.

The Spellshield means that removal spells and combat tricks do nothing to it and Overwhelm means that you can’t effectively block it.

Pair it with buff effects like Battlefury, Xenotype Researchers, and Omen Hawk and it becomes incredibly scary.

This card should be very good in a Renekton/Sejuani Overwhelm deck. It’s also a really sweet combo with Whirling Death.

This is the tenth day of card reveals! If you missed out on previous ones, check out the rest of the LoR card reveals.
