The new Empires of the Ascended cards are being revealed every morning at Mobalytics so be sure to keep up with the latest cards!

Here are the newest LoR Freljord cards from Empires of the Ascended:

    • Lissandra (champion level 1-2)
    • Watcher (follower)
    • Entomb / Lissandra’s Entomb (spell)
    • Frozen Thrall (landmark)
    • Frostguard Thrall (follower)
    • Ice Shard (spell)
    • Draklorn Inquisitor (follower)
    • Blighted Ravine (landmark)
    • Three Sisters (spell)
    • Cold Resistance (spell)

For more impressions and insights on the new cards, check out Swim’s video!

If you missed out on previous ones, check out the rest of the card reveals.

    Lissandra

Lissandra level 1 (LoR Card)Lissandra level 2 (LoR Card)

    • Lissandra level 1
      • 3 mana 2|3 champion, Tough
      • Text: When I’m summoned, summon a Frozen Thrall. Level Up: You’ve summoned 2+ allies that cost 8+. When I level up, create a Watcher in hand
    • Lissandra level 2
      • 3 mana 3|4 champion, Tough
      • Text: Your Nexus is Tough. When I’m summoned, summon a Frozen Trall. Round Start: Creat a Fleeting 0 cost Ice Shard in hand.

    Watcher (LoR Card)

    • Watcher
      • 17 mana 11|17 follower
      • Text: I cost 0 if you’ve summoned 4+ allies that cost 8+ this game. Attack: Obliterate the enemy deck

Lissandra has so much going for her and creates all kinds of win cons and deckbuilding concepts.

She summons a Frozen Thrall which can help out Frozen Thrall decks with Draklord Inquisitor and Taliyah decks.

Additionally, she is extremely easy to level up with Trundle since Ice Pillar costs 8 and refills your mana.

This means you can Draklorn Inquisitor a Frozen Thrall and then summon Ice Pillar you have Lissandra’s level up.

Lissandra’s level up gives you Watcher which can be an alternate win condition.

Watcher can be cheated into play with Revitalizing Roar and Spectral Matron as well as summoned normally.

It’s essentially an auto-win if it attacks and is added to your hand for free when you level up Lissandra.

There are decks that utilize Revitalizing Roar on Ledros → Atrocity to deal 19 damage in one turn and Watcher adds more consistency for Revitalizing Roar targets.

Lissandra also gives your Nexus Tough which is a unique effect in Runeterra.

Certain decks such as aggro may not be able to deal with this since they will deal significantly less damage per turn with each attack.

Another win-con that Lissandra has is that she gives 0 mana Ice Shards each turn which can chip away at the opponent’s field and enemy Nexus.

    Entomb

Lissandra's Entomb (LoR Card)Entomb (LoR Card)

    • Lissandra’s Entomb
      • 5 mana Fast spell
      • Text: Obliterate a unit and summon a Frozen Tomb in its place. Create a Lissandra in your deck
    • Entomb
      • 5 mana Fast spell
      • Text: Obliterate a unit and summon a Frozen Tomb in its place.

Entomb gives a lot of value in its versatility.

The spell can be used to protect your own units by dodging removal with Entomb, or remove your opponent’s units. It’s over-costed for one of these effects, but the versatility gives it viability.

An interesting combo you can also do is use Entomb on an enemy unit, then use Landmark removal such as It That Stares to remove the enemy Landmark.

    Frozen Thrall

Frozen Thrall (LoR Card)Frostguard Thrall (LoR)

    • Frozen Thrall
      • 1 mana Landmark
      • Text: Countdown 8: Summon a Frostguard Thrall
    • Frostguard Thrall
      • 8 mana 8|8 follower, Overwhelm

This card has a lot of potentials and can be built in many different ways.

First and foremost, you can play this card on turn 1 and then play Draklorn Inquisitor on turn 5 to summon an 8 mana 8|8 with Overwhelm.

You can use this combo in a Lissandra Trundle Deck, then summon an Ice Pillar on turn 8, and then you have 2|2 for Lissandra’s level up.

Another interesting build is using Taliyah Lissandra to create more Frozen Thralls for huge turns off of Draklorn Inquisitor.

    Ice Shard

    Ice Shard (LoR Card)

    • Ice Shard
      • 3 mana Fast spell
      • Text: Deal 1 to EVERYTHING

Ice Shard is 3 mana 1 damage AOE.

One of the reasons this is so strong is because of the consistency of having AOE in decks that also run Withering Wail and Avalanche.

SI Frejlord decks now have access to 12+ cards that can kill units with 1 health such as the ones named prior + Vile Feast, Unspeakable Horror etc.

This adds a lot of consistency in their matchup table in being able to deal with Aggro decks like Draven Jinx that have a lot of one health units.

SI Frejlord decks can choose to run this card if the meta calls for more of these 1 damage AOE pings.

Another perk of Ice Shard is that it’s generated at 0 mana from Lissandra’s level up each turn, and she has Tough so it doesn’t affect her.

    Draklorn Inquisitor

    Draklorn Inquisitor (LoR Card)

    • Draklorn Inquisitor
      • 5 mana 4|5 follower
      • Text: When I’m summoned, summon a Frozen Thrall. Round End: If the Countdown of any of your Frozen Thralls is 4 or less, advance them to 0

Draklorn Inquisitor is a staple in a deck that tries to use the Frozen Thralls.

You can get an 8|8 on turn 5 if you activate Frozen Thrall on turn 1.

Another interesting concept is using Taliyah to multiply Frozen Thralls.

One way or another, Draklorn Inquisitor is the best way to summon Frozen Watchguards in a timely manner.

    Blighted Ravine

    Blighted Ravine (LoR Card)

    • Blighted Ravine
      • 4 mana Landmark
      • Text: When I’m summoned, heal your Nexus 4. Countdown 1: Deal 2 to EVERYTHING

Blighted Ravine heals 4 and then becomes an Avalanche next turn that also hits both players Nexus.

One thing to note is that since the 2 damage it deals hits yourself, it only net heals 2.

Regardless, this card is interesting to add more Avalanches to your deck with the bonus of healing a few health.

A perk of this card is that they can’t use spells in response to the deal 2 to everything effect.

This could also be interesting in a Lissandra Taliyah deck since it helps level Taliyah.

    Three Sisters

    Three Sisters (LoR Card)

    • Three Sisters
      • 1 mana Burst spell

Three Sisters is a unique effect that adds a lot of versatility as it gives you access to Flash Freeze, Fury of the North, and Entomb all in one card.

You spend 1 mana to have access to three different options which can make the card a lot more consistent.

Most decks would use Flash Freeze over the Fury of the North and Entomb, but the option to have the others can help you in many different situations.

    Cold Resistance

    Cold Resistance (LoR Card)

    • Cold Resistance
      • 5 mana Burst spell
      • Text: Get an empty mana gem and grant an ally +0|+2

This card is an alternative to Catalyst of Aeons.

The healing on Catalyst is usually better for ramp decks, but Cold Resistance is a nice alternative to protect your units or use in decks that aren’t pure ramp like Taric.
