Our Thoughts on the New Targon Nightfall Cards (Call of the Mountain)
Today’s card reveals for the Call of the Mountain LoR expansion bring four Lunari cards from Targon that involve the Nightfall mechanic.
Leona was released the day after the Solaris so expect to see Diana make her debut after this Lunari reveal package!
Here are the new Targon cards for CoTM:
- Lunari Duskbringer (Targon follower)
- Duskpetal Dust (Targon spell)
- Lunari Shadestalker (Targon follower)
- Crescent Guardian (Targon follower)

The quick TLDR is that Nightfall grants a bonus effect if the Nightfall card isn’t the first card you played during that particular round.

Lunari Duskbringer + Duskpetal Dust
- Lunari Duskbringer
- 1 mana 2|1
- Text – When I’m summoned, create a Duskpetal Dust in hand.
- Duskpetal Dust
- 1 mana spell, Burst speed
- Text – The next unit with Nightfall you play this round costs 1 less.
Lunari Duskbringer provides huge utility for the Nightfall deck. The card it generates, Duskpetal Dust, essentially says that you get to trigger the Nightfall effect of your next Nightfall card for 0 mana.
As such, it will be an important piece of any Nightfall deck because it will allow you to play your Nightfall cards on a curve.
Lunari Shadestalker

- 2 mana 2|3
- Text – Nightfall: Grant me Elusive.
Lunari Shadestalker, being a 2 mana 2/3 Elusive when you trigger Nightfall, provides an incredible rate.
It’s awkward that this is hard to trigger on curve but that shouldn’t really matter and every Nightfall deck will likely play this.
Crescent Guardian
- Crescent Guardian
- 3 mana 3|3
- Overwhelm
- Text – Nightfall: Grant me +2|+0.
This card will basically never be active on Turn 3 and the utility of a 5/3 Overwhelm later into the game is way lower than something like Lunari Shadestalker.
As such, it’s a slightly worse Iron Ballista.
