Best Top Laners For Season 14 Patch 14.4 of League of Legends

This list of Top Laners may be outdated. We’ve updated our list of the best Top Laners for Patch 14.5, which you can find here.

5 S-Tier Top Laners to Climb With in Patch 14.4

We are not on to the fourth Patch of League of Legends, which should’ve given you plenty of time to adapt to the new items and map changes Riot Games brought us this Season of LoL. What do you think of the changes so far, and have you adapted to them yet?

In this Mobalytics article, we will discuss 5 of the best picks you can play in the Top Lane to help you climb in Patch 14.4 of League of Legends. If you want to learn how to play any of these champions or any other champion in League of Legends, head over to the Mobalytics’ Champion Page for tips and tricks for every champion in LoL!

Don’t see your favourite champion on our list? See where we rank them on the Mobalytics TierMobalytics Tier List for Patch 14.4.

    Vayne

Right now, she’s really strong in the game. One of the reasons is that she’s great at dealing with tanks that are using the new items. Vayne’s good at breaking through their armor, so she can take them down better than most other champions in the top lane. This is due to her W.

A skilled Vayne player uses her long attack range to bully enemy Top Laners while also denying them a lot of farm. This helps her get ahead in the game, and she can keep building on that advantage.

    Vayne Mid-Patch Stats:

    • Vayne isn’t getting any buffs or nerfs this patch.
    • Her win rate in patch 14.3 was 53.2%.
    • She had a 2% Pick Rate.
    • I am honestly surprised that Vayne gets banned as little as she does. She is only banned 10.4% of games. I would’ve thought it would be higher as she is so annoying to deal with.
    • In Emerald+, she was played 46,932 times.

    Fiora

The second champion on our list is Fiora. Fiora is a lane-dominant Top Laner who can get an early lead and snowball from there. A good thing to note is that you should play champions with good carry and snowball potential, and Fiora can do that easily.

If you want to master Fiora and abuse her this patch, then you need to play aggressively and look to consistently be on the aggression. You can keep the wave closer to your side of the map and then all-in and chase the enemy down the lane whenever they walk up to farm. Repeat this over and over again and either you get a bunch of kills or you’ll gain a huge CS and XP advantage.

    Fiora Mid-Patch Stats:

    • They are not getting any direct buffs or nerfs this patch.
    • Their win rate in patch 14.3 was 52.3%.
    • They also had a 6.3% Pick Rate.
    • Currently, Fiora has a 9.2% Ban Rate in patch 14.3.
    • In Emerald+, they were played 144,888 times.

    Aatrox

Aatrox is a dominant force in lane, especially with his high potential to get kills early on. In Season 14 patch 14.4, he’s looking to still be a great pick for those who want to dominate the Top lane.

Picking Aatrox in the Top Lane also gives your team an advantage because he controls the lane well. He can help secure objectives like the Void Grubs and Rift Herald with his strong presence. Plus, he matches up well against many other champions in the game. Even if he doesn’t win every matchup, his ability to split push and hold his own in 1v1 fights makes him a good champ in the mid-game.

    Aatrox Mid-Patch Stats:

    • I don’t think that Aatrox will be receiving any direct changes this patch.
    • Aatrox has a decent win rate in patch 14.3 was 50.1%.
    • Like we said, he is really popular, and he had a 13.9% Pick Rate.
    • Aatrox is one of the most banned Top laners in LoL right now, with a 16.6% ban rate.
    • In Emerald+, Aatrox was played 321,270 times.

    Darius

The fourth champion on our list is Darius. Darius is a very straightforward champion, which is ideal for people who are just learning the role. He just happens to be a very strong champion, too.

Darius is a great champion to play this patch as he is a dominant laner who can win early trades thanks to his Passive, Q and auto-attacks. These 3 combined make him a formidable lane opponent and it is quite hard to trade into him in the early game. If you’re playing Darius, you can usually win trades and just chase the enemy down over and over again with your superior damage output.

    Darius Mid-Patch Stats:

    • It seems Darius is not getting any direct nerfs or buffs in this patch.
    • His win rate in patch 14.3 was 51.4%.
    • Darius had a 8.8% Pick Rate.
    • I wouldn’t blame anyone for banning Darius. He is honestly extremely obnoxious to lane against because of his Passive. This adds reason to why his ban rate is at 13%.
    • In Emerald+, he was played 203,496 times.

    Illaoi

The final champion on our list is Illaoi. After Illaoi’s recent tentacle changes, she has become a better laner and has become even stronger. Illaoi is a great champion to learn as she can be really strong with a small lead. After she gets out the laning phase, her strength only increases and she is a great split pusher and team fighting champion.

During the laning phase, she isn’t the strongest champion (from levels 1-5), but once she has some levels and points in her abilities, then her damage output can be quite high. As long as she lands her E, she can deal a lot of damage in a trade. Post 6, her kill pressure intensifies, and she becomes even stronger. For the record, Illaoi is annoying to play against, so if you love annoying the opponents, maybe give Illaoi a try this patch!

    Illaoi Mid-Patch Stats:

    • They are not getting any direct buffs or nerfs this patch.
    • Their win rate in patch 14.3 was 53.5%.
    • They also had a 6.8% Pick Rate.
    • Currently, Illaoi has a 9.8% Ban Rate in patch 14.3.
    • In Emerald+, they were played 157,138 times.

    Final Thoughts

What do you think of our list for this patch? Let us know in the comments below. As always, you should pick champions you are good at and enjoy playing over the ones we recommend, as you’ll always climb faster when you’re on someone you’re comfortable with!
