5 S-Tier Top Laners to Climb With in Patch 13.23

The Top Lane in League of Legends is often seen as an island due to Junglers not prioritising this lane. While that is true to some extent, the Top Lane has quite a lot of carry potential when you play a dominant champion throughout the game and can win their lane on their own.

In this article by Mobalytics, we will discuss 5 of the best Top Laners you can pick up and learn to climb in Patch 13.23 of League of Legends. Mastering any of these champions in this patch will result in a good climb before the season ends!

If you want to learn more tips on how to play as any of these champions, head over to the Mobalytics’ Champion Page.

There are some other strong S-tier picks this patch. You can find more S-tier picks on the Mobalytics Tier List for Patch 13.23. Please note the data we are using is mid-patch data, all servers and all ranks.

    Akshan

The first champion on our list is Akshan, who has been dominating the meta for quite some time in both the Top and Mid lane of League of Legends. In the Top lane, in particular, he is perfect because he is ranged, which means he can bully and harass the enemy laner whenever they step forward or walk up to the farm.

Akshan is excellent at scaling, too, because of his late-game damage and ability to take down enemies who are overextended or out of position in the mid and late-game. Let’s not forget his Passive, which he can use to resurrect his allies.

Akshan’s win rate on Patch 13.23 was 51.4% in 263,000 games.

    Riven

After Riven’s buffs on the PBE, she is going to be stronger this patch, which is why we recommend you pick her up and play her before she gets nerfed. Riven is a hard champion to play, but if you master her, you will dominate everyone.

Riven is a strong duelist with a lot of kill pressure in and out of the lane. Taking Ignite is crucial on Riven so start a snowball. After one kill, you can either zone the enemy away from farm or all-in them whenever they walk up to last hit minions.

In Patch 13.23, Riven achieved a win rate of 49.1% in 405,000 games.

    Ornn

Ornn is a great beginner champion in League of Legends. He is really basic and easy to play as he lacks skill shots like other champions in League. The only thing that is hard about Ornn is correctly timing his Ultimate and W.

In the laning phase, Ornn can purchase items without leaving the lane, which can benefit him in many matchups. He is also great after his first item as it increases his trading potential and ability to win 1v1.

On Patch 13.23, Ornn had 52.3% in 520,000 games.

    Olaf

Olaf has shown a dominating performance for several patches in the Top lane of League of Legends for quite some patches now. that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon and as we head into the end of the Season.

He is really annoying and hard to deal with in the lane as he has a lot of ways of counting enemies in the lane. First off, his levels 1 and 2 are quite annoying as he can bully the enemy with his Q. Once he hits level 6 as well, he can counter any CC tool with his Ultimate: even towers will not protect you from an Olaf post 6.

Olaf’s win rate on Patch 13.23 was 51.6% in 235,000 games.

    Fiora

The final champion on our list is Fiora who has also shown a dominating performance for many patches now. Fiora is a strong duelist with great all-in potential and she can easily run any squishy champion down who over-extends in lane.

Fiora is one of the easier champions on our list. You need to learn how to play aggressively on her and not be afraid to 1v1 and fight often. Fiora is very strong at levels 1-3, so she can cheese an early kill when she has Ignite.

And finally, Fiora’s win rate on Patch 13.23 was 51.1% in 698,000 games.

    Final Thoughts

As always, make sure you play a champion you enjoy and are good at. It’s also a good idea to understand counter-picks in this lane, so maybe pick one or two of the champions on the list to master this patch just in case you get countered.

You can find tips and tricks on how to play these champions on their Champion Page.
