All Major Changes To Arena Mode

Arena Mode Is Returning on May 1st

One of Riot’s greatest rotating game modes, Arena Mode is making a comeback on May 1st, but this time around, there are plenty of changes to spice up your experience. Riot has taken on player feedback and made changes to make the game feel less stale and repetitive.

In this Mobalytics article, we will break down everything that Riot has changed to Arena Mode. Did you know Riot is experimenting and taking measures to make Arena Mode permanent? Hopefully, we will see it permanently later this year, but there’s no announcement yet.

Stay updated with the latest League of Legends news, with articles, how-to guides and information to help you climb, which can all be found on the Mobalytics Blog.

    8 Team Battles

The first thing you might notice when joining a game of Arena Mode is that there are no longer four teams of two. Riot has doubled the game mode size, and now there are eight teams facing off against each other.

With this in mind, it hopes that there will be a wider variety of champions being played, more team compositions and duos, as well as different strategies/ synergies to make each match or game unique. I can understand why Riot has made this change, but I don’t feel it will be that effective overall.

However, if more bans exist, the best meta picks will be banned more frequently, so it may work out. Overall, I’m looking forward to seeing how this increase plays out!

    Prismatics are Coming

Just like TFT and Augments, these Pristmatic items will be added to Arena Mode. They have stated that you cannot purchase them, so there shouldn’t be a mathematically best build for your champion. However, these items will open your champion to many different builds.

“Wanna run full armor, tank Master Yi? How about on-hit Bard? The possibilities are endless, and we’re excited to see what builds you can cook with Prismatics giving you the foundation to do so.”

With these in mind, it could be really interesting to see what things people come up with.

    Anvils

Anvils are new consumables that grant you some options to upgrade your champion. There are 3 different types of Anvils you can get.

    • Prismatic: Randomized choice between all Prismatic items.
    • Legendary: Randomized choice between Legendary items within your desired category. Categories will use the shop classification for classes (fighter, mage, etc).
    • Stat: Randomized choices between raw stat upgrades.

I feel like Riot are trying to make this game mode more and more like TFT. That’s not really an issue for me. They are using a lot of sources and premade things that work in other LoL games and bringing them into this game mode. Time will tell to see if this is the correct move or not.

    Map Update

Naturally, due to there being more champions and there being a lot of other changes to the game, Riot have also made the map larger to accommodate for all the teams. This new map layout is much nicer than the previous one in my opinion.

    QoL and Matchmaking

Ranked will begin on patch 14.10, which leaves a 1-patch pre-season for Arena Mode. Similarly, may also change and make switches on the ranked leaderboard too.

New champion cameos include Lux, Sett, Thresh, Pyke, and Jhin. Specific champion balance adjustments, item changes, and the removal of mythic items are also included.

If you like to watch your own gameplay, you can now spectate and watch your own replays too.

    In Conclusion

And that brings another Mobalytics article to a close. We hope that you have enjoyed this article, and it has provided you with some extra information and broke down Riots intentions with Arena Mode. Let us know what you think about it below, and for articles to help you on your climb, why not head over to the Mobalytics Blog for more!
