What We Know About the 2XKO Release Date
2XKO, Riot’s upcoming fighting game, formerly known as Project L currently doesn’t have a release date.
Project L was first announced in 2019 with it being publicly available for play at EVO 2023 and 2024.
Due to its pedigree, 2XKo has built up a lot of hype within the fighting game community, and we can’t wait to try it.

2XKo Release Date Prediction
With 2XKO’s currently having six playable characters (Ahri, Braum, Darius, Ekko, Illaoi, and Yasuo), the core is shaping up to a decent size with each year.
The game was playable at EVO 2023 and 2024 with an increasing amount of polish and characters added.
Our prediction is that 2XKO will be released sometime in 2025, likely coinciding with EVO 2026 or right after.
2XKO’s History and Development
The roots of its development cycle began as far back as 2016 when Riot Games acquired Radiant Entertainment, a studio developing a fighting game called Rising Thunder.
Radiant Entertainment was founded by Tom and Tony Cannon, the same legendary brothers who helped found the EVO Championship Series alongside Seth Killian.
Tom Cannon is now the Executive Producer for 2XKo while Tony Cannon is the Tech Lead.
When is the 2XKO Open Beta?
So far, the Open Beta period for 2XKO has not been announced. In 2024, 2XKO was made publicly accessible outside of playing it at an EVO with the 2XKO Alpha Lab playtest.
The Alpha Lab is taking place from August 8th to August 19th with access being granted through codes and referral invites.
We should see more playtest periods with a widening population of testers leading up to its release.
Hopefully we’ll get another 2XKO beta before 2024 ends – if not, there’s a good chance it will be Q1-Q2 of 2025.
